Default Best boost for buck?

Here is the scenario, I have a D16y7 engine with 44,000mi on it. I want to know what would add the most power for the least dollars:

Engine Swap(Best B series engine)
Turbo/Intercooler/FMU on Stock engine(running 14psi MAX)

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks
TT

B-Series engine, cause you can boost much higher from there

Boost the Y7! Then you can be like me I got a DOHC VTEC killer at only 10 psi (WITH NO INTERCOOLER!)!

A homemade turbo would give you the most power for the least amount of money. A b-series engine swap will cost more, but will give you a better platform to start from. It just depends on what you want out of your car.

7 psi max with an FMU on your stock motor... 14 psi with an FMU and your buying a new engine.

Stick with your motor, and turbo it. You'll save money, and 14PSI is a lot more power.... You shouldnt rely on a FMU for that much boost, though.

ALL good advioe. I only have a 2500 budget, so I think turbo is where im headed. You dont think I could run 14 even with 450cc injecotrs and S-Afc? I am also getting one of those huge spearco intercooler and bov etc. My buddy has a 1999 prelude the dohc vtec engine. He think his engine with only a cold air could beat my turbo'd engine. DO you think running 12psi I could beat him? I would only run 4-6 for daily driving.

Thanks
Again

Intercooled you'll be okay, just don't run 14 psi daily.

and my sister has 1998 prelude VTEC, with the teptronic shifter... at 3 psi I was able to smoke her... badly (we're talking about 8 car lengths ahead). A 5-speed may get a little closer - but a CAI on a prelude is ---- compared to a boosted D-engine.
I need to get my car dyno'd and I can give you more exact figures; just waiting for the 450cc injectors I bought to come in.
