bearings

i am getting in problems with bearings. on sunday a have changed main bearings, now i think i got problems with my rod bearings... any local mechanic say that this is because of turbo and a lot of power and stock bearing just dont want to handle it. are they right? i have stock d16z6.

Actually stock bearings are used in 500+ hp applications. Stock bearing are actually very good kinda like the stock crank.

Did you check all your clearances?

i dont done work on replacing bearings. i dont know how to exactly do it. but man who changed bearings (main) last time used used from another engine and said that those will be more good then another made in Chine. they looked good, no scratches or something. but about clerance i dont know.

but now i think i have problems with rod bearing, cos when i rev it a little more than 4k i not hearing that klick-klick. same on idle.

LMAO...
You can't use the bearings from another engine...get a Honda manual it's more complicated than that and please find another mecanic

Re:bearings

If those bearings are from another motor and are used I'm suprised that car is still running. Just wait till you realize that you now have to pull out the whole crank to get it micropolished or buy a new one

Re:bearings

just use the a6 and add the z6 head to it.. mini me the thing.

Don't go swapping rods and ---- if it's not necessary.

Re:bearings

well.. but i will get comp ratio around 10:1. or not? i have a turbo at around 10 psi and in near future when i get pistons/rods i want to run twin turbo.

quadnie 07-16-2004 08:12 AM

Re:bearings

what compression ratio are you going for?

Yeah you can turbo a stock motor, but pistons are always a nice upgrade. There are most likely easier ways around your problems that you don't realize.

Re:bearings

well. i've ordered 9:1 pistons for my d16z6. but somewhere i read that if i do minime with a6 block and z6 head iw ill get almost 10:1 ratio. but i want to play with my stock ratio. or it will be fine to turbo it? with pistons and rods and headstuds i wish to tune it around 15-17 psi, so i think it will be difficult with 10:1 comp ratio.

Re:bearings

The Z6 rod's are the same as the A6 rod's and if you swap them you will need to get new Honda bearings as stamped on the Rod's.
Just do a mini-me and boost it...a lot of people have done it.
B16's comp ratio is about the same or higher....you just need to tune it well...no detonation and it will be ok.
