Re: balancing turbo after rebuild?

Rebuild are "normally" only needed when swapping parts from other turbo and ----.

I'm bringing my T3/T04B in tomorrow to get balanced as it WAS a straight .60/.63. With the new wheel that was not the original I feel it should be rebalance.

FYI: It's not expensive!!!! 50.00CAN. For a turbo the all together cost me 350.00USD+ shipping, 50.00 is nothing!!!

Thanks, all I needed to know. Gonna go order my rebuild parts now... :y yay

Anything else I should do also? I read/saw some dsm guys port the ---- outta the turbine inlet and compressor outlets, would this be beneficial at all? Id be using a STD manifold, and have plenty of time to hog it out, Im not looking to start putting my ---- on the car for another month or 2, any one else do a porting on that turbo? Was it worth it?

Yup I did. Didn't want to waste my money on something that will take a ---- 3 months later. So I bought the kit. Everything brand new and Pure Garrett!

As I said goes in for a balance tomorrow.

And as for not Balancing. If your not swapping part, and not etching alignment marks, YOu sometime get lucky, You sometime don't. Kinda like she might get knocked up she might not with no Condom!!! Remember Alway wear a rubber.

All i know is from what I've read, and what I've done. I was told by several shops that marking for balance was a must, and every website I found about rebuilding said that marking was a must ... but if its not neccesary .... then hey ... I don't feel so bad about my rebuild now :-D

I'm by no means an expert, just speaking from my own EXTREMELY LIMITED experience. If you don't need to mark for balancing ... then a rebuild is a piece of cake. :)

Honestly, I really don't see a need to balance...the only way your gonna have problem is if your wheel is uneven or your shaft is slightly bent, but the the two wheels don't need to be balance with each other imho...
