Default backwards mini-me for turbo?(d15 head z6 block)

Has anyone ever done this?
more importantly.. would this be possible/feasable?

Could I swap out the block from my d15b7 with a d16z6 block?

I ask because I want to get a backup block,
I dont mind so much the extra work required as opposed to swapping engines.

but arent d16 blocks a bit more durable?
and I know I can get one for 100bux.. which is quite cheap.. and if it were more durable that'd be nice.

say I just swapped the block, and still had EVERYTHING else from the d15b7? would it work?
I wonder if the dx ecu works ok with a d16z6 block....

just curious
thanks.

i remember before somebody said they did this. they called it the "un-minime." i think you end up with low compression, and you get shitty performance when not in boost though. i guess look up un-mini-me in the search if you want more details.

thats exactly what i plan on doing...i have a y8 block in the garage ready to go in in the next few months...so far the only difference i see is the oil jet is missing from the y8 block...im guess all u need to do is put one in but still havent tried it so not sure it the hole is the correct size for it...i like using the term "reverse mini-me" =P ecu wont matter cause most of the important stuff is on the head. one more thing...theyre one guy on honda tech running a set up like this and he just left out the oil jet thingy

yes its definately possible and with the right amount of fuel you could run 15-16 psi with that setup.

hahaha ,dont toy with me now!!

sounds good though,
but about the oil jet,
anyone know what it actually does?
which engine currently has the jet?
because I know you need to remove it to do a regular minime, but its not always there to remove in the first place.

anything aside from the oil jet that would make this less than a bolt in affair?

That gives you about 8.5:1 compression with the stock head gasket and no milling to the head. You could run some boost with that ----, but out of boost will be ---- and spool time will increase.

aah I see,

hmm, I think i'll stick with the b7 block.
thanks for the info.

saw someone selling a b7 longblock for 80bux around here.. so I should be able to find a backup motor for cheap enough
