b20b spark plug heat range selection help
 

Im almost completly finished with my turbo build on my b20, im just having a hard trouble deciding what spark plug to purchase. ive read all the info on heat ranges but i honestly want a simple answer to settle this down.

Im planning to get it tuned at dnr performance in hayward, i should ask them what spark plug to pick up for my set up. but maybe someone here has already gone through this.

Maybe you peeps can help me out.

my set up
stock b20b
xenocron 255 fuel pump
2.5 bar map sensor
510cc injectors
garrett t3 60 trim ar.63 hot side
let me know if any other info is necessary

i dont mind purchasing two sets of different spark plugs but what heat range for this setup?

one step colder for every 10psi boost

On a pump gas car I recommend the coldest plug you can run without fouling. A colder plug will offer more resistance to preignition and detonation. Start cold and if you are having fouling problems (with a good tune) go hotter.

Seeing that you are only running 510cc injectors, you should be fine starting with 8's in the ngk lineup. If those are fouling try 7's.

i agree....cold as you can get on pump gas. a good tuner checks his plugs every once in a while anyway. if you find a fouled one, go warmer.

so these 7's BKR7E and NGK R5671A-8 4554 8's will work right?

The r5671a-8 plugs are non-resistor plugs and may cause radio interference or other interference problems. I have used them before in my 240sx and they didn't mess with any of my electronics though.

If your car starts missing in the upper rpms at wot, then you will need to gap the plugs down. The more boost you run, the more you need to gap the plugs down. You want to run as much gap as possible without having spark blow-out problems. Its really a trial and error thing.

just some quick info for a basic b20 turbo setup i had said above.

i used these 7's BKR7E spark plugs with great results, never detonated.
