B20B...CRVTEC? need some help nignogs

i dont know if this thread is in the right place or not sorry if its not.....................anyway crvtec.....i want to build one and i want to boost it. do you think thats worth it....i was also wondering if just the b20b would be a decent motor to turbo.....i found things saying it had like 126 horse power....and i dont know how worth it it would be to get like 160 horse power after doing work to the motor...........reallly im about to leave for wyotech soon (2 months or so) and i want to be able to take a project down there....i dont want to dump a bunch of money in to my si becuase i want a motor that can handle more than like 230 horse power........so my question is..... 1 is the crvtec a good motor to boost 2 would the b20b be a good or bad choice 3 if you have an opinion on what motor i should look into that would be nice also...........thanks and sorry im not smart enough to make a thread that has proper punctuation

oh that kinda sucks to hear.....i thought it would be a little stronger.....oh well....any suggestions for a poor guy?.....well im gonna try to build this motor without actually getting a job while im down there....i was thinking b16a.. boosted of course....i have noticed people getting quite a bit of power out of those while boosted...but also if im gonna spend 1500 i might as well spend 1900 and boost a h22.......any suggestions?

Re: B20B...CRVTEC? need some help nignogs

1900 will not get you a h22 swap and turbo unless your jacking someones ----. why not boost a b16 or ls/vtec?

$1900 wont get you a b16 swap and turbo, think about it, I know everyone here is all about finding ways to make it cheaper, but i did a b16 swap on my crx, then turboed it, heres what i spent

b16a with y1 tranny and pw0 ecu from top end motorsports $1,700 shipped
clutchmasters stage 3 and lightweight flywheel $650
hasport motor mounts $300
integra axles $120
modded shift linkage $50
new t-belt,waterpump,plugs,wires,cap,rotor,oil,coolant etc. to finish the swap properly about $180
thats $3,000 just for the swap, granted you dont NEED a good clutch and flywheel or $300 motor mounts, but the things you dont do now, you'll pay for later, same goes with the turbo set up
cast manifold $200
rebuilt garett turbo $350
wastegate $125
intercooler $200
bov $50
charge pipeing and down pipe $200
450 injectors $50
chipped pm6 with turboedit $125
chip burner $50
wideband $300
oil line kit $75
boost gauge $50
eg radiator $100
mis. things like couplers, clamps, injector seals, gaskets, bolts, hoses, fluids etc. roughly $75
thats $1,950 total for the turbo set up....all in all over $5,000 for the swap and turbo set up, dont get me wrong you can do it for less money but sometimes spending less money now will cost you more in the long run.......anyway if you can do a b16 swap and boost it for $2,000 good luck to ya, im not saying it cant be done with the right resources

I did a complet ls/vtec swap with a 800$ tranny (hard to come by here) and mounts every thing into my 97 civic and it still cost me less then 2300 b16's are over priced and ls blocks are cheap to come by. boost a ls vtec. b20's crack if you look at them wrong.

Re: B20B...CRVTEC? need some help nignogs

ok ill look into the ls vtec then.......ill start looking now.......you think i could get alot of parts for the turbo set up from people on this site....PRE welded...being as though i dont have a welder and dont know how to weld.....yea and do you think the ls block would be in a junkyard around my area......i live in pa and i have been trying to find a turbo and i checked like 4 of 5 junkyards and they all said ....."we dont have any turbo cars".....what i was asking was "are they common in all areas"

Where in Pa, I am about and hour east of philly I might be able toi find you an LS motor and I have 2 turbos for sale right now and some other parts...I acctualy have an LS with a spun bearing if you wanted to rebuild it for boost it isn't a bad way to start out...anyways pm if you are interested

Re: B20B...CRVTEC? need some help nignogs

spun bearing=crap motor not worth messing with. been there done that it f's up the crank and it costs more to have a crank machined then it does to get a whole new ls block. I can get them up here in ny for 110 any day. at a u-pull it yard

Re: B20B...CRVTEC? need some help nignogs

I have a spare crank too but either way just putting it on the tableif he was looking and not finding anything...yea we can get LS for about $100 in a you pull it here but you have to snag them quick they don't last there long
