Re:b20 vtec on boost

8-10psi tops.. tuned perfectly and a weak timing map.

no need to put a block guard in, b20 sleeves crack from the inside out. Monolithic desinged sleeves are the weakest b-series sleeves. This b20 block was pinned and cracked sleeves at 12 psi on a 4th gear pull.

In my opinion b20 blocks suck balls for turbo, I prefer an LS block.

How is that going to protect the sleeves from being so damn weak? ???

as I Have learned. a b20 is nothing more than a bored B18. so you have paper thin cyl. walls. so no. I wouldnt run high boost. maybe 6psi at most.

maybe you didnt understand my post. B20 sleeves are monolithic design, 1 peice, any type of detonation the sleeves will crack from the inside out. So reguardless if you have forged pistons, big rods and a nice block guard the sleeves will crack. I had 12pins supporting my sleeves (called pin/post method) which is better than blockguards and it didnt even help. You can run about 8-10psi safely on a b20 with a conservitive timing map.

Trust me I know lots of guys who have broke sleeves in b20's. Its quite common for them to fail with fi applications.

b20 and b18 sleeves are nothing alike, b20's actually have very thick sleeves, but due to the weak design they are brittle as hell and crack.
