B18b turbo problems
got a b18b turbed w/ 16g and it was blowin mad smoke,
so i pulled the motor and the #3 exhaust port was just soaked in oil, the other three were fine, it also had a small knock i thought it was the rings so i pulled them all out and the bearings and rings all look fine, any ideas? |

Re: B18b turbo problems
You have bad ringlands or rings on the #3 cylinder. Get another motor.

Re: B18b turbo problems
mine did that and i changed the valve cover o rings up top

Re: B18b turbo problems
take a closer look at the pistons...sometimes the ringlands are cracked but it isnt too obvious unless you look close or smack them on the ground lol

Re: B18b turbo problems
well now that you have it out and apart, put some forged rods/pistons in it with new rings/bearings, and take the head to a machine shop and have them do a valve job/seals and get a bigger turbo, put it back in, then have it tuned....problem solved... ;)

but i dont think that that is going to fix my problem.....whats the best way to check the valve guides or seals, other than just taking them apart - what do u look for |
