b16a turbo Q's

ok im gonna boost my stock b16a with a 14b more than likely.i just want 5-6 lbs, nothin crazy.do you guys think that will be safe?i want to be able to stay reliable and be able to drive this almost everyday (about 65 miles).

does anyone have any expected numbers i could look forward to at the track?its in a 93 hatch with just a dash and the front seats.my goal is 13.50.

im pretty damn sure you can hit 13.5. turbo is kinda small though. tuning and maintaining the car is the key to reliability

theres people running t3/t04e turbos on there b16s at 10psi tuned and running low 13s. 14b is kinda small i think for a b16, but whatever works, if u dont want to be crazy fast then use it.

How big is a 14b compared to a t3 .42/.48??

yeah im just doin a cheap setup right now just to be boosted, if i can hit 13.5 on street tires and 5-6 lbs ill be really happy

how much boost can a stock b16 normally handle before it gets to the point of bad news?

Re: b16a turbo Q's

dont use a ------- td04.. theyre ---- on b16a's. i had a t25 on mine for a while, and it wasnt much faster at 8000rpm than it was standard :-\ .. chucked a hiflowed t3 on it and went way harder; mainly 3rd gear +.

on the t25 i did a 15.1 on a dam slippery day.. wuld have been a 14.5 if it wasnt so muddy/slippery/wet.. cranked a 13.7 with the t3 on same boost and same basemap.

its not always the psi u want that makes u decide the turbo.... 14b in my opinon is just to small of a turbo for anyone that likes to drive hard /race . Can't keep stable boost in the high rpm ranges.

ok for granny drivers that want a more enjoyable ride, but not for the serious drivers. just MO

Re: b16a turbo Q's

Stock B16's are pretty strong motors, the pistons are the weakest part but with a safe tune youll be fine. Dont use a 14b on a B16 you can find a cheap used T3 .48/60 and youll be much happier with that.
