Default b16a turbo?

ok i currently have a b16a NA setup. but want a turbo'ed engine. im not sure wich would be a better way to go? change all my parts in the b16a or getta fresh b16a/b18c1 and putta turbo on those then sell my b16a as is? and can i run a turbo on these engines stock? maybe changing pistons/injectors/fuel management? and i read something about sleeving? for saftey or was it something else? i really dont wanna blow my engine on the firs try at turbo cuz that would be really crappy.

since im wanting to switch over to turbo i have very minimum knowledge on this. and i just wanna run a turbo daily driven car nothing too fast right now, just something that i can gain some knowledge on firs then make a bigger turbo install.

oh and how much would the turbo run me? im thinking about parting one together rather than buying a kit? i think itll be cheaper and ill get the parts i want.

and wuts the price ona b18c1 not new but used with low km? i live in canada, so if u put a price and u live in US plz state weather US or CND.

thanx in advance
Jay

Just sit back and read my friend. The FAQ's, turbo setups, tech projects, forums, etc... All the answers will come to you. It sounds like putting together a cheap custom turbo kit for your b16 would be perfect for you, but make sure to include parts you can upgrade when you decide to boost more. Fuel management and tuning is very important (the most important part in my opinion) so make sure and do you research on that.

The B18c1/5 are the best all around motors honda ever made in my opinion, but it's going to cost you a lot to swap one of those motors in. Your b16a will work just fine with a good custom turbo kit.

yeah i was thinking that too, just keep my b16a cuz it has low kms around 35,000k but the previous owner i got it off put high comp postons(12:1-THIS i need to change lol) type R cams, Type R valves and did some other stuff like port n polish, balance and blue print, spoon flywheel, Crower Titan valve springs and retainers,Center force clutch, and ngk blue spark wires. sooo im thinkin first i needa lower my compression. and the rest can i leave in and upgrade injectors? and get maybe hondata? after i get lower comp pistions i think im gunna buy some parts for my turbo setup, unless its easier to getta kit? but i think its cheaper to just buy part by part right? well let me know, thanx for the reply!

Yeah you will defintely want to lower your compression. Between 9:1 and 10:1 is where you want to be. The lower the compression, the more room for error you have in tuning. I personally would rather go with 9:1, but as long as the tuning is spot on you can go higher. I would suggest getting larger injectors DSM 450cc and chipping your ECU with uberdata for fuel management, it's the same thing as hondata, except it's a free program. Building a turbo kit will be much cheap than buying one also.

oh do everything else i can keep like the cams and valve...etc? so just get bigger injectors/change pistons/and chip my obd1 with uberdata? i think im gunn have to read into the unberdata. lol but thank you for the info, its wut i been lookin for for a WHILE lol. ohh another question, any idea whut size turbo i should go with? the rest is really up to me for the turbo parts right? is there any good/bad parts i should look out for?

thanx man!

Just run with the 12:1 compression. Just make sure you get it run and dont drive it like a dumba$$ when you first install it. If you are too afraid of that then just change out the pistons for lower compression pistons. I wouldn't change anything else--why waste the extra money? Its already a decent setup.

It seems like you have a pretty nice N/A setup. If you are gonna boost I would sell the motor you got as is instead of ripping into it and pick up another b16 or b18 block to build or run it stock. You should easily put down 300 whp with a stock bottom end. For turbo if it was me I would go with a t3/t4.
