ARP Torque Specs?
So the instructions say 60 ft lbs wtf?
Im doing the drop in one at a time method, I plan on foowing the head stud sequence yadda yadda, but im sketchy on the 60 ft lbs.... What have you guys torqued yours down to? D16z6, td04h 10bs ish. Thanks! |
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
65lbs for me. No problems so far. ;)
|
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
search you ---- nuget i made this post just a few months ago..
to save you the trouble... https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...866#msg1199866 i did 75Flb and thats what the guys at arp told me.... |
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
Sorry!
So with moly lube then only 45? Should i go 60 with the moly just to be safe? Im using the supplied stuff from ARP. 45 just sounds so low. i gave ARP a call, and they said 45 with moly lube or what ever it is, or 70flbs with 10w30 Just figured id post if any one else is searching for this info.. |
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
I'm sure the engineers at ARP purposely told you a low torque spec ::)
|
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
that is just it, they told the poster above not me and not that I doubt his statement. I mean come on, 45 ft lbs does not sound low to YOU?
can anyone verify what THEY torqued it down to with the moly lube? |
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
dont be a useless tool... i told you what they "ARP" said...
If you are in doubt like i was, call them your self.. there customer service is great, and will be more than willing to help you... |
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
bet, thanks man. Its sat and they are not open haha
|
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
GSR's get torque to 110 ft/lbs :)
I wonder what they torque the D's too :) |
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
I go to 80-85ft lbs, Joe goes to 90ft lbs.
|
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
i usually just get out the 1 inch drive impact and hammer till the head snaps off. .
|
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
use your impact tighten them down until you see the socket slowing alot, then give it that last 'tat tat tat' so it's torqued
|
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
3 tats equals proper torque spec. always. all i have is my one inch impact so i just use a few adapters. works out well.
|
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
every tat past socket slowing is 5-6 ft lbs.

Re: ARP Torque Specs?
i dont understand how people have the headstuds and the information to get the job done and still need to make a post. if arp says to go to a certain spec follow manufacters recommendations. 10lbs is not much and can be ran on stock headbolts. if arp says to go less with lube its simply because the lube reduces the friction and will give a lower torque reading. on any fastener, most of the torque being applied to the bolt or stud is overcoming the friction between the threads, the rest is bringing the bolt to its maximum stretch limit. just install the headstuds and torque them in steps in sequence. arp may specify different specs for a dry torque or a lubricated torque. i used the moly lube and torqued to 60 ft lbs and had boost spikes to 15lbs and never have a problem at all.
or use an impact. |

or use an impact. As always this board shows its high level of knowledge, thanks all. I will call ARP Monday AM to get the specs, and will torque accordingly. |
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
actually ---- it, i will use my impact and put sayyyyyy, 75 tat tat tat's on it, that should do it. :y :6
|
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
I have always done mine to about 85lbs.
|
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
the more the better....
dont want the head lift there |
Re: ARP Torque Specs?
true to an extent. but when the studs pass there stretch limit (tensile) they will weaken.
