anyone tried T28???

Before getting into the Honda turbo scene I was big into DSM's. One of the first things I did to my 97 Talon TSi was replace the turbo from a T25 to a T28 and the best part was: completely bolt on! Same size compressor and exhaust housings, but the innards are just tons bigger! I noticed some turbo lag, but it was well worth pulling past Corvettes at 3800 RPM when the turbo is fully spooled at 14 psi :).
The reason I posted this is because I noticed lots of people are using T25's, and for more boost they're going with the TD05's from 1g DSMs. This (I guess) requires more difficult plumbing and such, so if you've got the bucks (about $800-$1000) I suggest going with a T28. I don't know how well they would work as far as turbo lag goes, but if you're setup for a T25, you're setup for a T28!

That would be a good upgrade for maybe someone using a D-series that was keeping their custom dsm setup and maybe was deciding to build their block. But its a pretty known fact that all the aftermarket DSM turbos are well overpriced. It would be much cheaper to use a T3/T4 for a built setup. They are cheap, and a bit easier to use. The fact is that a Stock T-25 can make more than enough power than a D-series can even handle.

but thanks for the info... I beleive a guy in our state has a T-28 on his 1g crx.. Pretty trick

i think ive seen brand new t28's go for like 80 bux or sumthin.... wayyyy over priced imho

id rather drop a few more $'s and get a GT series hehe

most people use t25's cause on d15's and such they dont need a big turbo and used t25's are super cheap.

Crackhead, t28's brand new are like $600. Unless you're talking about the t28 that was on the pulsar...

I kinda figured that T28's would be too big for D16's but just thought I'd throw it out there. Maybe if someone rigged one up with some nitrous........

If i was going to spend hundreds on a turbo, I would go with a KKK Warner K26 from some German made car. They're small but can put out lots of boost, and are used on Porsche's twin turbo setups I believe. Also, they bolt up to any T3 setup because they have the same fittings. On my ZC I'm planning on using a 16G from a friend's car that got totaled, and hopefully my little D will handle it.

getting a new t28 for 80 bux is not waayyyy over priced

that was an obvious typo guys sorry....

i meant 800... ive seen em on special for 800 before and since the GT series ball bearing turbos start in the 1200 and up range and you can get a t3 60-1 for 650 i just dont see how the t28 NEW fits in as a good buy.. for any car

garrett turbos or even precision turbos are a much better buy
