indeed, that is the wrong place to tap into for oil feed. it only pumps out full flow when vtec is engauged..

What a hacked setup, somebody has some time I guess, should be pretty fun to drive if everything works out.

Imagine all the custom work that went into it. I am curious what are actually stock Honda parts on it. I was considering a similar setup for my del Sol but my damn gas tank is in the way. I need to find a rex;)

Re:anyone see this awd turbo crx yet?

The gas tanks are in the way on both vehicles. If you look at a couple of the under carriage shots, it looks as if he made a custom gas tank. Still cool though.

I had always heard that the CRV's drivetrain was weak though? Even on the CRV itself. Hrm, I couldn't imagine putting boost to that drivetrain and expecting it to hold out. Hopefully it's not a lot of stock Honda parts..

Still a cool idea. Imagine the "tiger-like" take offs of a CRX with AWD.. It's crazy.

Re:anyone see this awd turbo crx yet?

From the pics I can tell that he is using a CRV 5 speed hydro tranny with a VERY COOL hydro to cable conversion that I have never seen. He's using 88-91 Civic wagon rear suspension and rear *lower cross member*(lacking better term) with moddified wagon trailing arms (probly to keep crx ride height). Compare how low the rear cross member is to the bottoms of the tires, looks as though he has about 3" of clearence between it and the ground. http://public.fotki.com/morgie/qsr/c...ivers_032.html
He welded in the shifting mechanism from the floor of either a crv or a wagon. and I cant tell if he's using the differential from a crv or a wagon, but I would think its wagon since it mounts to the wagon suspension back there like stock. Can anyone identify anything else on here? It would be cool to have a recipe for this for possible later use right?

if you're on the highway and see a crv drive up behind it. you can see the rear axels. they're about as big as my index and middle finger put together...

What are you talking abotu!? You make it sound like that's NOT the best setup for an AWD, off-roading monster like the CRV. ;) ;D

The whole idea behind the AWD CRX is that it's a CRX.. Eclipses in my opinion, look like girl cars. :-\

Not to mention that my girlfriend REALLY wants one. ;D

Re:anyone see this awd turbo crx yet?

I think it's pretty known that the crv 4wd system is pretty weak..

But it does look like he is using the 4g rear suspension.

Re:anyone see this awd turbo crx yet?

the rear diff is crv. the crossmember is wagon. I wonder why he didn't use a wagon gas tank? maybe couldn't find a non-rusty one. they are notched to go around the driveshaft. which part of the crv is weak? the rear end or the trans-transfer case setup? i would think you could use a subaru rear diff to have a beefier setup.

Re:anyone see this awd turbo crx yet?

I think the tank would just pose problems reguardless, If I was doing something like that I would definatly just get a external fuel cell.

Re:anyone see this awd turbo crx yet?

If anyone really wants one, I can get them a factory Honda Civic SOHC AWD system. It comes on the Rti Civic (JDM). They are quite abundant here in Trindad (caribbean). Don't quite know how strong they are though.

Sorry, they aren't available for the B series engines. D series only!!

Re:anyone see this awd turbo crx yet?

which bodystyle are they? wagons, 4drs, rexes, or hatches?
please post some pics of them.

Re:anyone see this awd turbo crx yet?

If you want, just search under Google for "Civic RTi" and it will pull up a bunch of info.

The 4wd applications are for both the EG and EK models, and I think most of the ones I have seen are the 4 door sedans. For you Nissan lovers, the Sentras are also available in 4wd applications too, both for the GA15 and SR20 drivetrains. Look under "Attessa 4wd" for the Nissans.

Also, early 90's Sentras came AWD with the SR20DE..
