To anyone that knows 240sx's ka-t

Alright, so I got my car running.... 240sx ka-t. It's the s14 motor in a s13.

It runs, but it runs very poorly. It only pulls about 10" of vacuum at idle and it should pull about 20.

then.... lets say you're in 3rd at 4000 rpms and you let off the gas... normally, the vac gauge would go way down.... pinned at the bottom basically. For me, it still just stays at about 10.

I've checked for leaks and there arent' really any. there are a couple pinholes, but nothing that would screw me this bad.

I was talking to my auto teacher and he said that if my timing is fucked, that can be another cause.

I put s13 cams in the s14 motor. I think that they are just the intake and exhaust from the s13.. but im not totally totally positive. Is there any timing changes i need to do from s14 to 13?

I know my distributor timing is on besides being retarded 5 ish degrees for 10lbs of boost.

therefore........ if my timing is on the right teeth, and the distributor isn't off, where is my vac?

did you block off the EGR? if so, the leak could be there if you didnt seal it properly. I also had a boosted S14 motor in an S13. Yeah if your timing is off, it could be that too. Really hard to say without seeing/hearing the car in person. :(

P.S. Don't run 17psi on pump gas for too long. KA's don't like that :)

hehe... no.. 10 psi on pump gas... then after break in and a bit of mone I'm getting z32 maf, injectors, and a tune... 400 hp here I come.

EGR is welded shut.. and I've checked it with a boost leak tester, so I don't really think it's just a simple leak

did you make sure the motor ran fine b4 you boosted it? always dial motors in at complete stock or atleast running smooth with all ur goodies b4 tryin to make it faster. i know that ka's dizzy's are funky as ----, if u put it back in and the lil gear spun even a few clicks on you, ur timing is now off. play with ur timing a lil. or take everything off and get ur motor running properly.

when I boosted a KA, I installed the sr20det injectors in and the shipped ecu and it was running way rough.
THen, I ws told by a nissan mechanic that when you chage the injectors on this engine, you ALWAYS have to put brand new seals even if the old ones look fine.
i did that, and it solved the problem...

My buddy john whos car I posted up is runninga wolf pretuned ECU. I told him pretuned was a horrible idea, since he spent SO much money on this build already(shave/tuck/repaint engine bay, forged internals, sweet exhaust, Turbomanifold, dowinpipe, nice turbo, nice injectors). I don't see why he didnt just buy AEM for an extra 500 bucks...

valve lash (not opening valves all the way, not pulling air in to cylinders)

tuning (I've seen cars running overly rich have ---- vacuum)
