Re: anyone know if this turbo mani is any good?
id like to say its junk, because of the time it takes to hand weld a manifold, but i bought one of those cheap ass down pipes for my girls turbo beetle, it was like $80 and i have to admit it was a very nice piece

Nice, teg. What tires are those?
Oh and I own one of the original prototypes of that manifold. Got it from IowaTCoupe who worked with them to get measurements suited on it and it was handcrafted. I have yet to run it though. I beginning to think that poor welds aren't a sole issue in cracking manifolds of log design, but rather the fact they flow horribly and hold massive amounts of heat which when cools does so in a higher range inducing cracks. In other words, logs lack flow, hold heat, crack easier. Just a guess. JP |

Re: anyone know if this turbo mani is any good?
no wonder why that cracked, the joint looks like ---- and the butt looks like it was fusion welded.... how long did it last?

Re: anyone know if this turbo mani is any good?
I think you should just buy a cast manifold from this guy:

Re: anyone know if this turbo mani is any good?
i got my $80 ebay cast mani today, looks fine. i checked the holes with gaskets and they seem perfect, dont really see how it could suck beside the wg flange is on one runner, its on the end where they meet at least, unless my turbo hits the block. the casting has some "pores" in it but i dont think thats a big deal, maybe all new cast does, dont think i ever seen a new cast manifold
