anyone else using the 1gen DSm BOV?

Im using the 1st gen DSM metal BOV , but I cant even here that its working. I was told that these were pretty loud. Its in perfect working condition, just cant here it.
I trying changing were the vacume was hooked, to a larger vacume port, and it sucks the BOV wide open, and keeps it open. on the small vacume ports it doesnt even move.

whats wrong.

Tell us abit about your setup. Is it vented to the atmosphere? How many psi are you running?

is your car moving? or in neutral? cuz the BOV will only make a sound when underload and in boost....

btw all the DSM BOV's i have heard are loud, except the one on my 4dr...but i put the stock rubber hose on the end so it wouldnt make any noise ;)

Crushing it will only make it harder to open...thus keeping it closed if you plan to boost more than what it was origianlly designed for.

im running it at 11 lbs and its pretty decent for what it is. its louder than i thought. if your running open dp ofcourse your not gonna be able to hear it. but then again u can still hear it its just a softer tone since your car is too fucken loud. so if your car is open dp thats your problem

I think the DSM guys start crushing them over 18psi.

My bet is that he's revving while not under load and expecting to hear it.

Re:anyone else using the 1gen DSm BOV?

No, Im not just reving in nuetral, Im trying it under a load of 9 psi, the vacume port im using pulls alot, as soon as I start the car, It slams the valve all most wide open, then I drive it and get the boost up, and I barely here a faint phssss. I cant tell what it doing , because i cant ride int the engine bay, while going down the road.

Is it suppose to stay wide open while in vacume, or what?
Its just vented into the air, but I can hardly here it. My exhaust isnt loud , so I dont understand why I cant here it.

Help me out people.

I ran into that issue before.
It depends on where you mount your BOV. The further it is from the TB the lounder it gets. Try relocating it further down towards your stock air filter.

Re:anyone else using the 1gen DSm BOV?

at 9 psi that ---- should be loud enough no matter where it's mounted.

There's something else wrong here.

this must be the problem i'm having. I am running open downpipe until i can get my car to a shop to have my exhaust all fixed up. I took my car out for a spin yesterday only revving to 3k rpms because i basically have no fuel managment because the ecu chip i have isn't working properly and I had to run off of the stock p28 maps. Anyways i didn't hear my 1g dsm bov at all, but again thats probably because i am open dp and i wasn't building much boost.
