Another White Smoke Problem
Okay guys I need some input as to what might be causing this. There would be a cloud of white smoke that shoots out of my exhaust when I floor it getting to speed. Some times it does this and some times it does not. I thought it might be the head gasket but that seems fine. However one of my car's symptom is that it leaks coolant through the radiator cap. I am getting no where with this...i've tried different maps and nothing really changed. I also would have this weird problem, sometimes the car would hessitate in any gear to accelerate. I would tap the gas pedal and the car justs hessitate and bogs back down, then I would let it idle and then shut it off and then restart the car to get rid of this. Any ideas guys? Oh sorry......I am running a T3 .42 .48 on a d15b7 intercooled on 440cc injectors with Uberdata. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Another White Smoke Problem
its the head gasket because mine did the same thing plus my car sometime wouldnt go for some reason and would idle right but when i change my head gasket my problems where solved. but first change your rad cap and and do a flush

Re: Another White Smoke Problem
Blown head gasket. Blowing coolant out of the radiator and white smoke tells all. If you want to double check, do a compression test on each cylinder and post the results. If all looks good, do a leak down test and watch for bubbles in the radiator. I'd bet mig money on a blown head gasket tho

Re: Another White Smoke Problem
I have the white smoke problem again it comes and goes but Im pretty sure its oil from the Turbo.
How can you make out the diffirence. Its white buy you get a distinctive oil smell. Im asumign no oil smell so your asuming its the gasket and coolant. |
Re: Another White Smoke Problem
oil smoke will have a bluish tint to it.

Re: Another White Smoke Problem
if oil is being pushed through your turbo seals it will not combust but give the smell of oil due to burnoff from your dump tube. Sounds like you have a bad hg and turbo seals.

Re: Another White Smoke Problem
What is HG ?
Any oil leaking out the turbo eiter from ring seal issues or turbo seal issues will turn to smoke because your turbo and Exhaust is so hot. Chk the mufler for oil. If there is no oil your safe. |
Re: Another White Smoke Problem
HG=Head Gasket

If the ehad gasket is gone shouldnt there be oil in your coolant.
WOuldnt it be simpler to just see what levels are droping i.e. coolant or oil |

Look for a drop in your resoviour (anit-freeze) tank. If you have FTL, I figured I had a slight problem by going hitting it building a psi or 2 then walking to the back to see a little moisture on the ground. Smelt it and it was sure enough, sweet, anti-freeze. JP |
