How much boost can a turbo handle without an intercooler( a T-bird IHI turbo for example) Or does it matter what type of turbo?? This would be on a D16z6....or does the engine matter as well?

I agree.....I want an intercooler.......but I have to wait 2 weeks until i get my paycheck and I want to hook up everything so it will be less time when I do get it! So how much boost can I run without running into any overheating problems?

 

you can hook it up but you will have to redo the charge pipes again when you put the ic on, kinda a pita.

its not a matter of overheating but pinging, just hook it up and listen for it, if it is lower the boost.

 

with the t-bird IHI, don't go more than 16psi unless you want it to blow up. Ive gone 20psi without an intercooler in my car with no probs

It seemed like he was just asking about the turbo in general.

 

We dont have the 2.3l ford love, that can boost 20psi without an intercooler

highest I would boost without an IC on a honda would be 8psi, and thats with some nice fuel/spark management.

homemade water injection is another option.
