Aftermarket crossmembers for a turbo crx.. any good ones?
In the middle of my turbo project running into a clearance problems. I have a 91 crx with a b16 running a t3/t4 with a stainless steel manifold and 3" downpipe also running a 94 civic radiator. Ofcourse with the stock crossmember my downpipe doesnt come close to fitting and neither does the charge pipe comming off the turbo since that points strait down.
Was wondering if anyone is using those aftermarket crossmembers. I was looking at the one they have at stealthmode performance. It looks like my piping would clear but i might have problems with my radiator since mine comes down almost as far as my tow hooks do and right in line with them. I suppose I could do come cutting to move the radiator around but was wondering if anyone else uses these in thier setup and can maybe show some pics of how thier stuff clears. |

ah man.. bummer those looked pretty good and didnt really like the idea of those mild steel ones they have on ebay. any other good crossmembers out there? friend of mine has a gym fab one or something like that but it still doesnt have room for the 3" downpipe without some problems.

Re: Aftermarket crossmembers for a turbo crx.. any good ones?
I did make them but I have put it on pause for a bit. The man reason that I lost my jig (my car because it is back on the road). If anyone local to London Ontario or so wants to come to my shop some saturday so I can use there car, I will make you one for free. The reason I don't want to remove mine is I just got it al set-up the way I like it and paid for my alignment so I don't want to loose me settings.

the full race one looks very nice but pretty pricey. b16crex do you use a 95 civic type radiator with your setup?

Re: Aftermarket crossmembers for a turbo crx.. any good ones?
Did you make the downpipe yourself? if so, you could have done a little extra work and got that 3" dp to clear the crossmember. I havea 2.5" dp in mine but there is more than .5" on either side of the pipe between teh block and crossmember.
as for the compressor outlet pipe...why dont you clock teh compressor so teh pipe doesnt point straight down? If you have to get a crossmember; tehre is a guy named camp1320 on honda-tech who sells l-con crossmembers. |

Here is some good reading if you haven't already seen it.
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1156671 I am not one to believe everything I read on HT or any forum but at least it might provide some information to help you make a decision. Chris |
