AFC / injector help on my f22a

Just getting started on the board here. Got a 93 accord w/ a f22a and I'm going turbo in the next couple weeks. I've got evrything ready except i don't know if I should go with a FMU or run an AFC with stock eclipse turbo injectors. My step is basically all from a 2nd gen gst so I'm thinking the injectors would work perfect. If i run the AFC i would just have to turn down the fuel on the AFC to slow the pulse right?

Re:AFC / injector help on my f22a

---- forgot the main part. I know the afc would work but I wasnt sure if it could back the pulse down enough for the 450cc injectors. basically which is more sound the fmu or the afc trick?

AFC ;D
How much does your stock injectors flow?

I dont know, I'll find out

Re:AFC / injector help on my f22a

from what I have found they are 195cc

Re:AFC / injector help on my f22a

JD, I'm turboing my 91 Accord with an F22A also..
I'm going to be running a full DSM setup aswell and will be using the S-AFC II. I'd like to compare notes sometime if you want.

FYI, The S-AFC would give you finer tuning options than an FMU and it can lean it out the DSM injectors enough (all the way down to -50%) and I believe our stock injectors are 240cc not 195cc. Where are you located btw?

Semnos 03-10-2003 01:27 PM

Re:AFC / injector help on my f22a

If you have 240cc you can look at the AFC settings that others have in there CRX. or at the Dropshot site.
If you have the 195cc I would lean it all the way to -50%.

Re:AFC / injector help on my f22a

Luderone, are you going to run full DSM? or just the injectors?
I haven't sized up the DSM manifold and turbo to the engine yet to see if it's a perfect fit and most importantly what everyone on HMT wants with their turbo... if it'll clear the AC compressor :o but hovering it over the engine and looking down, it looks like a real close fit.. like under 1" to the AC compressor.. We'll see how it turns out. I'm interested to see where you guys are going to get your IC piping from and what material you guys are going to use.

Sounds good. I just got a good price on a fmu so I'm going to try that out. My manifold and turbo are in the mail now. I'm using the manifold of a 93 eclipse and the turbo off a 98 gsx. We'll see how it goes I'll post something up when I get some results.

Is that manifold gonna fit???

Re:AFC / injector help on my f22a

That ---- better work!! I've talked to a few people with the same setup and they told me that the holes need to be drilled out a little and then it fits perfect. From the looks of the engine bay everything should go according to plan. Gonna have to using some flex pipe to mount the intake cone somewhere but besides that everything looks pretty straight forward.

Now the dilema is whether to do a SMIC or a FMIC. Auctually I'm thinking of mounting 2 small intercoolers in the front of my kit. Anybody mounted 2 before? I'd like to put a pic of my car up so i could show the kit and how the intercoolers would mount. How do I put pics up? Oh yeah Im in NC soory for the late ass response

---- it I cant figure the picture thing out. heres the address of me page http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...page_id=284897
I want to put an intercooler on each side. Not in the center where the grill is but on each side of it in those big ass openings.

How are you going to connect the 2 ICs together? your gonna have to run the pipes through the middle grill anyway or back through the engine bay.. but then that would just heat the charged air back up... rendering the first IC useless. I say just mount the IC(s) in the middle grill or in the passenger side opening only.

Re:AFC / injector help on my f22a

Yeah i was thinking of running a pipe through the grill to connect them together. Damn I might just be getting myself into too much hassle.

oh yeah you asked if the A/c could be kept with the DSM manifold. The guy I'm talking to about it says that the people he knows that have done were able to keep their A/C. He said to just make sure to cover the downpipe in somthing to keep the off of everything.

Cool, I was just reading through your guestbook and that HighRevs22 guy's post about turboing the F22s.. and was going to ask you to post any good info you got from him and others :D

Basically him and his people are the ones that told me about the eclipse manifold. His freind has it on his car and said it worked just fine. I forgot how much boost he was running but he said he had stock internals and was busting out with around 220whp.(he wasnt in the teens I think it was around 11psi) Theres a guy around here who owns an import shop with a dyno and all that good ---- and he said he's seen something like that with an f22 also. All I've really heard from him is that the f22 is great to turbo up, I plan on hitting him up a little whenever I auctually get the turbo on.I'll see if I can't in touch with that guy in my guest book

Awesome, but do you know if the guy with 220whp is using a stock DSM turbo at 11psi? or another turbo on the DSM manifold? And what is his max torque? Find out if they're using the AFC hack for fuel management and what their settings are.. for base comparisons only ofcourse ;)
I plan on running the stock 8psi of the TD0H5 turbo so I think I should be able to hit my goal of ~200whp and 200+ tq ;D

Re:AFC / injector help on my f22a

Hey fella's glad to see im finaly joined by my own crowd on here :)
Im an F22A Luder!
Im going with:
- 1g dsm manifold(it fits, ive seen pics, two holes need to be re-drilled)
- 1g dsm turbo, bov etc.
- dsm turbo injectors + afc style fuel hack
For an intercooler im going to see if I can find a water/air intercooler instead of an air/air intercooler because they are more efficient for street cars.
Anyone know how many CFM of air the 1g dsm turbo pushes at 8psi?
I plan to run 8psi at first... then slowly turn up the psi as I get more parts like BTM etc.
about 200whp and 200wtq is also my goal... but I dont know if its atainable with stock internals and only 8psi...

Nice site thermal. Whats up with some close ups!? Anywho, I changed my mind on the fmu thing. It wasnt adjustable and I didnt want to change out all kinds of disks to tune it. I think im about to buy a boost sensitive fuel regulator from MSD. http://www.overboost.com/obs/product.asp?pid=2628
somebody check this out and let me know what you think. Looks almost too good to be true. Only like 80 bucks for a boost sensitve regulator. I'll try it out if someone gives me the motivation to try it. Oh yeah the guy busting out with 220 had a tdo4 if i remember right.

so who has some pics of the eclipse manifold on an accord, id really like to see some proof of that being done.

I have pics of an f22a exhaust gasket held up to a dsm turbo manifold. Fits perfect, but the dsm ports are a bit bigger and two holes need to be re-drilled.

JD 03-18-2003 06:30 PM

Re:AFC / injector help on my f22a

Ok I took off my heatsheild for the manifold and everything looks like its going to bolt right up. I didnt take the manifold off to see which holes need to be redrilled but if anything they probably just need to be widened. So for anyone out there, a 93 accord lx is complient with the eclipse manifold.
