AFC Hack

ok... i was gonna gamble on an aftermarket chip I bought online... but i decided to scrap that. because well i dont trust myself.. or that chip .... so im opting for the AFC Hack instead i have been reading into it a bit.. and I know theres a couple of units that can get the job done ..... but my question is wich one is easier to use? tune...? 1st gen or 2nd gen APEXi SAFC / Fields SFC-VTEC / or SMC fuel controller?

ok on to the next question... as far as hooking up the unit... if it comes with instructions i think im capable of installing it... but i hear that on 92+ civics if you want to run 450cc DSM's you need resisters? does anyone know what kind... or what part# they are... im guessing they are used to slow down the current or something but where exactly are they hooked up to? each injector harness? or is there a cable im supposed to tap it into?

oh yeah... i think i wont need an aftermarket FPR will I?
(will be running 7-8psi) D16Z6

thats pretty much it.... any info would be apreciated...

Get the 2G Apexi AFC . You should have a resistor box on your car already, cut it out and put one from a 88-91 civic/crx SI or HF there. The Apexi comes with instutions, but you may wanna have a shop do it b/c you may screw some stuff up if you don't know what your doing ( that goes for all the AFCs ).. Then you can use DSM 450cc injectors. You don't HAVE TO replace the fuel pump and get an adjustable fuel presure regulator, but you do need to get them sooner or later. You'll notice that in the higher RPMs you'll start running lean, b/c your pump can't keep up, not b/c you need bigger injectors.

if you have a 92-95 civic, you will need the resistor box; none of them came with one.

its a 94EX... so i know for sure it doesnt have the resister box.... so i know im gonna need one... but someone told me that the SMC uses 10k resisters or something like that.... i was wondering how you wire it all up??? i can steal the parts.... just throw em over the fence at the boneyard, and pick em up on your way to your car...

The only thing that sucks about that diagram is the fact that it didn't mention that that red wire (resistor box diagram) consists of 4 SEPERATE wires that must all be twisted together with teh red one. Other than that, it's 100% right and great. It worked for me, just don't be alarmed when you have to put 4-1!

For the second diagram. I'm a bit confused. So both wires (yellow and red wire) are goes to one resistor? and the other end of the resistor becomes into two wires again? I'm confused. can anyone please explain to me how it goes? It would be appreciated.

OK, lets put an end to this.. It's being made more difficult than it is..

First off, you don't need to do ANY wiring conversion if you are already running a Multi-point fuel injection on an 88-91 Civic/CRX.... and if you running anything newer, then you will need to do the resistor box setup of the 88-91 Multi-point setup. Find this swap, read that section of it. It's explained very clear when looked at in respect to the inbjector swap.

Other than that.. just plug and play your DSM injectors.. Taking note of Jeff's article about dremeling the seals.
