adjust boost/psi on internal wastegate???

I just recieved my dsm t25 turbo, and want to know how to adjust the boost on the internal wastegate. It seems sealed, so i can't replace the spring (without breaking it)... and I heard eclipses run 8-10 psi stock, and Im looking to run 6.

any ideas???

Re: adjust boost/psi on internal wastegate???

take it off and run the o'g. spring for a wastegate, pull it further for more boost, put it closer to lower boost. boost controler and lower boost at the pull of a spring.

Internal gates are not like externals you can't replace/change springs/diaphram...there is 2 ways well 3 or 4...you can get a actuator that is for a hight boost level, run a boost controoler or modify yours, cut in half and thread both ends and one of those long nust so you can make the rod longer or shorter...or just buy a adjustable actuator

just stumbled (literally, wasnt even looking for it) across this online: think it'll work?

sorry, "o'g spring" ??? Im not sure what that is.

also, with the cut arm method (see diagram) does that just compress the actuator more, or does it open the wastgate a lil to relieve pressure. I dont know if I want a leaking wastegate all the time.

you cant lower the boost with a boost controller.....and the OG spring is just a spring that holds the wg flapper shut. it works, but not well. and yes, cutting and threading will leave the wg open a bit (depending on how you set it up)

Re: adjust boost/psi on internal wastegate???

oh i just saw he said he wanted to run less boost, yea BC won't do less...if you re mount the acctuator you shold be able to have the flapper stay shut, right?

Re: adjust boost/psi on internal wastegate???

dude, you want lower psi? run the stock wg and a huge ass ic, you get a slight pressure drop in the ic thus running less boost haha

You could get a new exhaust flange on ebay, that will remove the factory wastegate controller and wastegate, then get an external wastegate and weld it to your manifold...done.

dumbest idea ever, why not jus get a new dp flange and remove the wg flap. weld a short pipe then a wg flange right off the pipe off the dp flange n have the external gate there, no new mani needed. done.

Look close at the waste gate arm, the actuator is disconnected and replaced with a spring. This set up run's a pretty solid 5psi. It spik's a bit in first gear to around 7psi.

Re: adjust boost/psi on internal wastegate???

I didn't say to get a new manifold, read the paragraph next time before you respond, you said the exact same thing I said. instead of fabricating the "extra pipe" drill a hole in your manifold (existing) and weld in a wastegate, it would be a hell of a lot easier and would not take up as much space..... :4

external wastegates cost more $$$ and im kinda opposed to spending more ??? right now.

how do you adjust pressure? cut the spring shorter?

Re: adjust boost/psi on internal wastegate???

you can get a wastegate on ebay for like 40 bucks, and you would have a reliable setup. If you cut the actuator rod it can be dangerous to your engine if not done correctly. You don't want to risk blowing your engine,...do you?

Pull the spring tighter for more boost and looser for less boost.

Just dont be retarted and hold it floored on your first try to test the pressure, and your engine wont blow.

Re: adjust boost/psi on internal wastegate???

i stink i found a solution...

Its hard to see, but if you add washers behind the acutator mounting plate, it'll push the wg flap open more. Should work imo.

---- it and run 10psi

Re: adjust boost/psi on internal wastegate???

ok, I gave up, and Im currently running the stock (wastegate's stock) 8psi. Its holding so far. We'll see what happens.

Re: adjust boost/psi on internal wastegate???

remove wastegate actuator
plug hole in comp housing
hook carb return spring to wastegate flapper, other end to comp housing / oilfeed or drain
test pressure on boost guage

tighter = more boost

carb spring now holds wastegate shut O0 O0 O0

but I wanted LESS boost :o
