Adapter plate questions.....

ok, real quick guys, im making a homemade adapter plate for my std mani to 14b turbo ..

i have a 3/4" this plate of steel 4.5x4.5", and both factory gaskets..

first question is, should i drill the holes that im going to use for the dsm turbo gasket all the way through the plate???? --- cause i notice at one point that the bolt holes are going to be real close to eachother, and without actualy seeing the dsm holes ont he side of the plate that im lining the std gasket up on im afraid that i might over lap the bolts....

is it ok to drill all the way though with the dsm gasket bolt holes??

and also, i noticed on the main HMT tech section that they had used countersunk bolt holes in the adapter plate..... now im not looking to do that for all the holes, but i am loking to do it for the one hole that u cand get a bolt in from the turbo side because the shape of the turbo .... this way i could put a thread matched bolt in from the adapter plate, and have the strenth of all 4 bolts...

question is what kind of tool do i need to make a countersink hole like that in a piece of steel???

Re:Adapter plate questions.....

I dont know the annswer to the question about the adapter couse ive never made one but to counter sink the holes you can just use a bigger bit to go over the hole you need for the bolt to go through.

I guess what I meen is that if you drill a 3/8" hole for the bolt just go over it a little with like a 1/2 or 5/8" drill bit till the bolt head is recessed.

They do make counter sinks but thay are kind or pricey.

if u think they are going to hit, dont drill threw. just drill maybe half way or so and tap the hole :P and put a bolt in it. :-\

no its not, use like lock tight or some ---- i had the same problem bolts kept coming out. try to drill at least 3/4 in the plate
