I've been using cuplings from home depot and havent had any trouble with them. Gonna upgrade to silicon when I get the money though.

I had the black PVC Home Depot style pipe couplers and they were absolutely ----. Either the pipes kept blowing off or the coupler split near the ring clamp. Get some Nitrile/SBC coolant hose and just cut it in segments. Those hold up much better. Also make sure you bead your pipe ends somehow. The connections after the intercooler should be fine to use PVC though...good luck.

I secind that, definetly dont get the couplings form home depot or lowes. They always blow off and when they arent blowing off they are slitting. The only way I fixed that when I had them was to wrap the in tape and the put the clamps on. But still, defintetly go with the good ---- like silicon.

I am using a piece of thick ass radiator hose off a big diesel truck.. but my air piping is 2-1/2".. a radiator hose works fine for us po' folks, they are good to around 30 psi.
Just weld a bead around the end of the pipes, or cut a 1/8" circle of the end of the pipe, slit it, and weld it to the end to form a flange/bead. Guaranteed to not slip off!
