99 V-6 cougar questions

Need some help, there is only one turbo kit out for my car, its made by www.arizonadynochip.com. It cost 6K, think its worth it, or should I just build my own kit? just wanting some input from everyone

Re: 99 V-6 cougar questions

damn. 149hp increase for the t28 kit.

Stock Vs. Turbo Kit -8lbs of boost-

Stock:Max Power 126.26whp Max Torque 121.15lbs
Turbo Kit results:Max Power 275.26whp Max Torque 262.32lbs

im sure you could make your own hmt kit with an air-air intercooler for much less using the stock manifolds. might not get as much hp, but i would never spend 5500-6000 bucks on a turbo kit.
that site does sell a turbo chip for the ecu and also an ecu programmer seperately.

Re: 99 V-6 cougar questions

You can build it yourself for a fraction of the cost. The hardware components are pretty straight forward for any turbo set-up........it's the engine management that's really important. Fortunately for you, the Ford ECU can use the SCT tuner package (user programmable chips). It allows you to modify and tune the stock ECU data tables via laptop and software. Great stuff!

Good luck on your project,

Re: 99 V-6 cougar questions

the problem i run into on the cougar/contour forums is that everyone says that IT CAN'T BE DONE,i know better, thats just like they said you can't run a FMIC on a contour/cougar v6, and behold someone proved them wrong. I can't see spending 6K on a turbo kit either, but ill prolly use the ADC chip and programmer. At least you get positive feedback here.

Re: 99 V-6 cougar questions

I'm running a FMIC on my 99 Cougar..........so yes it can be done... ;D
Although I have a 2.0 Zetec and not the 2.5 Duratec...........the frame under the bumper cover is the same for either engine on the Cougar chasis.

----, if you were living in the same area as me...I'd help you build a turbo set-up just to prove them wrong....haha!
