sigh I had so much hope for this. Oh well maybe when FJT comes out with his 1.5 usdm rods I'll build my motor and slap one of these on. I actually already have plans of doing this all. I think Im just gonna copy most of your setup with the actuator cause trying to figure out all the ---- with the electrical ---- sounds like more work than actually needed.

Believe me so did I.

Be my guest, if you have any questions let me know. I was going to try the electronic thing too at first. Was running low on time and just decided to try this. It worked out much better than expected.

I'm hoping to have the time this weekend to drop the pan and pull off at least 1 rod cap and see what happened.
I don't think I want to remove them all in case that would affect my possible warranty options. Especially since I got less than 1500 miles on this thing.

Unless it gets fixed for free I think I will be assembling the bottom end myself next time. The only part of the motor I didn't touch is the part that failed. At least then I will know who to blame, and if it ***** up I'm out a lot less money.

Hi, im really intrested in this turbo thing, i have a mercedes benz a 1982 230e, i already install a turbo mitsubishi TD04, it works very nice, unfurtunely the turbo is smooking everything, i buy it used and its not 100% in good conditions, one guy is selling to me the same holset turbo in $350, i think the price is not that bad, my question is if you think that this turbo is going to work in my car, or what changes do i have to make to the turbo to make it work properly, i need the turbo charging at least at 2500 rpms, and bossting as ideal 12 psi (low charge) my car is 2300 cc, 150 HP without turbo, with turbo 225 HP tested in the dyno, i used the origina mechanicall fuel injection but with some tricks, y used my car for circuit racing in a regular championship, thanks a lot for your help.

Dropped the pan today. One totally destroyed rod bearing. The #2 bearing was spun around on itself and doubled up. Part of it is welded to the rod cap and part to the rod end.

Stuck to the rod cap

The part still stuck to the rod.

Rod journal

That rod bearing was destroyed beyond identification so I pulled one other rod cap. My suspicion was correct, the wrong bearings were used for the application. They used bearings for a 4/92+ build date. This revision of the eagle rods require bearings for a pre 4/92 build date motor(6 bolt vs 7 bolt) Next I need to find out what I have listed on my reciept, and raise a little hell.
This is what killed the motor the first time, I didn't get the little note that is supposed to come with these rods specifying that when I supplied the bearings ts the shop.
This time I let the machine shop pick up the bearings, and reminded them at least 7-8 times which ones were required. I'm guessing miscommunication between the shop manager, and the guy who built the motor.

I contacted eagle and they said they normally fail in the first couple thousand miles, somehow the first time around it lasted 20,000 miles. This time it only lasted about 1000.
