Default 89 300zx Stock turbo

What turbo came stock on a 1989 300zx, I just pulled on in the junkyard today, has a T3 flange off the mani but it dosen't look like a T3, maybe looks like a 14b I'm not sure I am uploading some pics right now...I did some research and it says they cam with a .60/.60 but this turbo is no way close to that size, I have one here and compaired them, anyone have an idea...and it is also for sale came off a auto with 113,000 miles has little shaftplay should tighten up with oil...forsale thread should follow when i get pics up, thanks...Matt

There were two turbos offered on the older z's depending on the year of the car. What you have is the same thing I am running on my old *** 88 prelude. The funny thing is I have heard two different things about this turbo. Most people I have spoken with think it's a t25 however I conferred with a man selling the same turbo on Ebay listing it as a t28. I emailed him stating that I thought he was mistaken and he had a t25. He responded he had been rebuilding turbos for something like 10 years and knows his ----. Go figure. I just don't know for sure. I believe it's a .42 / .48. I do know that is spools quickly and seems to perform well although I am curently only running 6psi. I still have to tune.
The other turbo offered on the z's was a t3 with a .60 something a/r on both sides.
If anyone can show some documentation stating this is one or the other I would love to see it!

Thanks...I wonder if anyone else has some info i searched google for like an hour and didn't get any good info...one site said they had a T3 .63/.60 which as later changed to a T25...does a T25 have the same flange as a T3? I will try and get some pics of this side by side with a T3 the only similarity is the flange of course this has the nissan Dp flange...the turbine wheel is smaller than my any of my T3s but this was on a V6 so I assume it shold work fairly well on a 4 banger, well unless nissan just gave the car a tinny turbo, i though the TT had T25 but this is wierd...hmm this might work well for a TT setup, use this to spool a larger turbo, anyways thanks for the info

I would sy a T25. Looks a little small and not like the 2 60/63 Nissan t3s I have. Plus they stopped putting the 60/63s on in like 87 I think.

yea i have a .63/.60 nad sat them side by side and there is a big difference, i believe the 89 300zx was around 200hp and this turbo should be able to support up to 300hp, I'll have to look up some specs for a t25 to see if they match, and just an interesting fact apparently the vg30et could hold together up 400hp in stock form, i though that was kinda cool, when i was working on the car other than it being a huge pain in the *** it was loaded with features, power leather seats with every adjustment you could think of, adjustable suspension..tons of stuff..if anyone needs parts from it i can go back and see what eft it looked like it was fresh and well the body wasn't good it had a sticker that said runs and drives so i think it is mechnically ok, thanks for the info guys

that turbo looks familiar. come on guys.. I swapped the exhaust housing for a .63 garret (because of nissans dookie dp flange) but it came with a .63/.60. My buddie had it on his built d and ran a 12.1 at 117 and 19psi. its on my car now and i love it! spool isnt late at all, but i also have a straight pipe from the dp to the back of the car. buy that turbo, it ------- rocks. If you need a dp flange made for it, i work at a cnc shop now so i can make you one from my old housing. pm me

to clear things up, the next generation 300zx was a twin turbo 6cyl, so it did use 2 t25's. the flange looks the same as a t3, but its much smaller.
