88 CRX HF Race Car

Hello,
My name is Ben and I am from NW Ohio. I am new to this site/board and I must say hell of a job. It is refreshing to see a site dedicated to real performance by real working men. Anyway, today I purchased an 89 CRX HF today with the following items all uninstalled: Autopower unwleded 6 point roll bar kit, aluminum stock for dash, Autometer Ultra Lite speed, rpm, oil pres, temp, and volts gauges, and a Summit racing seat. The car has no drivetrain and a gutted interior. I want this car purely for drag racing. It need not be streetable. I have a few questions, and I figure you fellas could help me, so here goes:

1) What engine and tranny do you recomend. (Whatever
engine I end up with, it will be turbocharged.

2) There is 0 wiring in the car, so what type of wire
do you recomend for a custom wiring harness.

Thanks,
Ben

sounds like a fun project for a engine id go with any b series or even a h series. As far as wiring if you get a stand alone engine managment id would just get what ever they recomended.

Beau

Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks for the response Beau. Keep in mind everyone a fe things. 1st, I can weld fairly well, and have stick, tig, and mig welding equipment, as well as a plasma cutter. Secondly, I have a budget of about $8-10 thousand. (Sold my bike and my jetski) Third, I eventually want to hit 10s.

Thanks,

Ben

I honestly would go with a system like hondata or zdyne. Other stand alone systems cost atleast 2000 grand with tuning. Go to the junkyard find a crx with all the wiring shouldn't cost more than 125.00.

Bah.. Hondata and Zdyne are overrated..

EcuControl, and Ghettodyne will soon empower the world. I'll see to it. ;D ;D ;D

If you dont have a harness, you might as well just get a full standalone system.. speedpro/Accel/TecII/Motec/Haltech whatever, they sometimes come with some prefab wiring harnesses.

My goal is 10's with a D-series with a 10 thousand dollar budget...
