8:1 pistons?

anyone run this low of compression? post your set up and how much boost your running

anyone?

Re: 8:1 pistons?

why would you want to?

off boost would suck (ask hotsex) and you'd need a ---- ton of boost to make any power. To most everyone here, low compression is 9:1

r u retarded? go away.

ok i read that article over and pmed him. he had pretty much the same set up. 8:1 then a vtec head and a little milling and ended up with about 8.4:1

compression that low is gonna make for a piss poor powerband down low...hondas already don't make power down low...dont be a fool and make it worse.

if you're getting the pistons free, turn em for 200 bucks and put it towards a 9.5:1 piston.

Coming from the guy with the spins 1st, 2nd and 3rd sig...no power down low at all...

Id rock a 8:1 motor

Re: 8:1 pistons?

who needs power down low lol well im gonna rock them. itll end up around 8.5:1 after a milled vtec head. ill be fine from what iv read. im thinkin around 15-20psi :y :y

civics and integras:p my accord puts down 150ft/lbs to the wheels.

My 9.8:1 is low in my book.

every thread i started is the same way... people start out bashing then eventually some good word comes in lol for the people that are running compression in the 8's id like to here your set up :y

no this is your thread

Q-should I run 8:1?

I would say that 90% of the people saying no here, havn't even driven a car with lower than 9:1 compression.

Lower static compression = more boost = party time.

Re: 8:1 pistons?

who said i was asking if i should or not? im going to. i was asking if anyone else has and what there set up was. so if your not running low compression stfu. post else where

165 series 14" steelies and a pegleg tranny own me. and it doesn't spin til about 5000rpm. which on an LS, is the top end.

you can make 500hp like ---- all from a b18c1 on 9.5:1 with a decent turbo and tune why would you want it lower? If you want big boost then you will need a big turbo which means big turbo lag, so anything under 5500rpm then its just a dog? ---- that and yes I have driven 8.2:1. Some engines will work good at 8:1 but ones with very low torque is a waist of time.

Re: 8:1 pistons?

My old dsm was 7.8:1. Is that low enough for you? It was too ------- (S)low for me so I ran it into a guard rail at 65 ::) Why would you want to lower your compression to just boost more? Why not have some beefy c/r and boost a lot still with a good tune and have power across the board? (bashing territory 'cause the cars not mine but...) My buddy's scirroco was running 44psi on 12.5:1 c/r. It only was the first fwd vw to break into the 9's.... ::) Low compression for boost is a myth just like the myth about my cock being small ;D

Re: 8:1 pistons?

i say 8:1 in a gs-r motor with a 60-1 and 25 psi would be a pretty good time....

Re: 8:1 pistons?

ya lemme get some 12:1r compression pistons and run 30pounds. itll be fun to drive everyday :1

Re: 8:1 pistons?

The pistons in my hyundai accent are originally from a hyundai scoupe turbo (almost unheard of car that came turbo for 2 years). Anyways the pistons stock are 7.5:1 for compression, now thats low. When I installed them in my motor it was milled to achieve about a 8:1 compression ratio. Off boost isnt that bad, but then again i have a small turbo which is fully spooled at 2500rpm. It would blow ass if i didnt spool till like 5k though. However running 12psi on this motor feels the same (if not better) as 10psi did on stock internals with a 10:1 compression. Im running 15psi (maxing the tiny turbo) and looking ot run at least 20 soon..... From all the crap talking about low compression i expected a dog in traffic but its not as bad as people make it sound.

Re: 8:1 pistons?

well i have 8.5 pistons not sure what my totall compression ratio is but im running 14 pounds and im loving it. it doesnt matter what your compression is. your cars going to be slow before it hits the boost. if you know how to drive it you will enjoy it anyways. its a safer setup anyways so why not go with alittle lower you can always up the boost if you dont like it. especially for free.

5000rpm, it's like traction control!

I'm having the same problem albeit with a SOHC/DX tranny.

You make it sound like hitting 500whp on pumpgas on a GSR and having it last is easy. :l

I'm just saying, I think this guy should run the pistons, I would.
