66 Mustang turbo beginning

Ok, I put the honda turbo on hold for a while since the opportunity to get a 66 mustang presented itself and I always wanted one of them. I plan to turbo it after I get my second engine back from being rebuilt. It has seven main berrings, so it should be able to hold some power. The problem with it is it is a 6 cyl with an integrated head. I plan to have the intake header chopped off and fabricate a custom one for the engine. I am a member of fordsix.com and use them for alot of information, but want to know the opinion of anyone here who has done a custom intake before. Here is a link to a guy who has done one already, should I follow his lead, or should do something different for a boosted setup.

I don't know much about Ford's. Mainly because I hate them ;), but I think that'd be super cool to have an old turbo mustang. You don't hear of many v8 guys going turbo, but it'd be a cool suprise for people. ;)

have fun. it should be a world of difference. youre gonna want to port the ever living ---- outta the intake/exhaust ports on that head....

the I6 heads flow like complete ass. however if you want to start with a better platfor the 250ci heads flow a little better and have bigger valves than the 200ci ( prolly what you have) heads, and they will bolt onto the 200 block

Use the whole 250 motor. It bolts right in. The carb will not clear the stock hood but if you are going custom set up anyway you could make it work.
We are geting my wifes grandfathers 68 Mustang and I was thinking about doing the same thing.

Ah, I do like the idea of using the Jeep intake mani, looks like a good match. What type of engine management setup are you going to run with that? an entire Jeep system? That would work, and be very budget. I dont know how far deep you are going to get with this, but Converting to Fuel injected is going to be pretty spendy isnt it? If you are going to make a custom intake mani, I would throw an angle on the runners upward like 10-15 degrees and make a large sheet metal plenum. (depending on how much room you have) I dont like the idea of having a nice hot hair dryer sitting under the intake manifold, I'd exhaust wrap your custom manifold like a mummy.

I'd love to see your build up shots...
