Default (.60/.63) Turbo guys need your help

I'm boostin my D16z6 with a T3 (.60/.63) and 1st gear there's no boost untill 5000 RPM and it only goes to like 1-2 psi. 2nd gear starts getting boost at like 2500 RPM and that's when I reach full boost on every other gear. This is my first time boostin so I'm not sure if this is normal for a turbo this big on a D-series or there's just a leak somewhere. Help a fellow HMT member with this. Thanks...
Setup:
-D16z6 (stock internals)
-Log mani with minor leaks
-5psi
-460cc injectors
-bov
-intercooled

Might be normal...

Do you spike in other gears or does the pressure hold steady?

check for exhaust leaks at the flanges and make sure the wastegate actuator is closing all the way. I had a problem when my actuator got stuck halfway and jammed so the flapper wouldnt close all the way. It would boost spike though too but i wouldnt get any real boost until 2nd-3rd

Sorry guys no wastegate. I'm using a carb spring. I can't boost past 5psi even if i cut the spring a shorter. The pressure holds steady after 2nd gear and so on. So I think it might be normal for a turbo like this on a d-series. But what do you guys think.

Well, I think you posted it yourself. You have a larger turbo with an exhaust leak.

The .63 A/R exhaust housing is large for a single stick D16, not to mention the turbine trim is 70. try swapping out the .63 A/R housing for a .48 housing and it should cure some lag. keep in mind that Corky Bell says "if you don't have lag, then you don't have a real turbo"

Actually corky bell said, "If you don't have lag, you don't have turbo", but he didn't say anything about "real".

Ghetto D has a 63/60 on a D, and it's the whip. I had a 48/60, and it was half the whip. Get the exhaust leaks fixed and make sure all your charge pipes are still on and you should be good.

I fixed my charge pipes so there's no leaks. I guess the exhuast housing is a bit big. A .48 might do the trick. But I think the real problem is the leak so i guess I'll go with an hf mani and sell that log mani. Thanks guys.
