60/63 on my b16?

Ok, I'm told the smaller t3 off like a saab is a bit small for my b16. What about the bigger ones, off thunderbirds, mustangs, ect. How well will that spoool on my stock b16?

a 60/63 will spool by 4000 on your b16a but not gonna make big numbers with it

a t3/t4 will be ideal

yeah, but I can get the 60/63 for like $165 shipped. How big of a difference will there be between it and a comparable t3/t04e? How about between it and the other t3's (like the 42/48)? I guess I'm a little confused about the size of this turbo and I'm trying to get an idea of where it lies relative to other turbos I am familiar with. I'd like to use it because it's much cheaper than a t3/t4 (don't forget, i'll save money in a number of ways by using the internal wastegate too), but I want to know how much performance I will be sacreficing. I am thinking about using it for a while, then upgrading to a t3/t4. I'm sure the 60/63 could entertain me for a while

Re:60/63 on my b16?

i have the nissan 63/60 ts on my civic si and at 10psi it was making 246hp 205tq on the dyno, and it was tunned conservitavely. it made 270hp running a little leaner that day. full boost 10psi comes in at 4500 in 2nd gear and it makes power past redline. the t3/t4 is a bit bigger and will make more power at the same psi but it might take a bit longer to hit full boost and will be more expensive. sounds like you're getting a good deal on that turbo.

though if there's an important difference between the nissan one and the ford one, that may not be as helpful... Anyone know if there is any significant difference?

Re:60/63 on my b16?

no difference as far as size, but there might be a difference in the mounting flanges and internal wastegate settings. it'll work on your car just make sure it's in good condition.

Re:60/63 on my b16?

Anyone else have experience with these turbos? I would feel better about buying this turbo if I got more opinions. Though I try to do a lot of research, I am still quite the noob. I am depending somewhat one you guys' experience.

Re:60/63 on my b16?

I've used both, and I prefer the Ford T3 60/63 just because it uses the "standard" garrett 5 bolt discharge flange. This makes it easy when doing a block off plate (when going external) and making your custom downpipe. The stock ford housing will aim the exhaust directly at the block or radiator depending on how you mount it. And the nissan one, I cant remember, I think we had to hack it off as well.
