.60/.48 too small?
is a .60/.48 too small of a turbo for a b16? i found a good deal on one and wanted to make sure before i bought it.

Re:.60/.48 too small?
I wouldn't want anything smaller and I have a d16z6, not sure what it will do on your B16. I would defintely be looking for a t3/t4 if I had a b16 though.

Re:.60/.48 too small?
yeah i know its not that big of a turbo but do you think it will fall off badly on a b16? how many pounds do you run on the z6? does it hold full boost all the way to redline?
|
Re:.60/.48 too small?
I run 10-12 pounds on my d16z6 and it rips good to redline and I am sure if I could rev it higher the turbo would keep pulling.

Re:.60/.48 too small?
honda-tech had a discussion on this exact topic recently. It is probably a bit small, but if you're not aiming for much hp (it's really hp and not boost that u should be looking at) then it is probably fine and will spool nicely. If you got a good deal, then don't worry about it; any turbo is good. Have fun with that one, then after a while when your are used to the hp, get a bigger one.

Re:.60/.48 too small?
.60/.63 t3 here on a b16 no complaints

Re:.60/.48 too small?
So if you're not going to get it, where's the good deal? ;)

Re:.60/.48 too small?
T3 .48/.60 turbo here and am fine with it. Only reason I would consider going to a T3/T4 or bigger turbo is if I wanted to go for 350whp+.
T3 .48/.60 will do just fine as a turbo for most of the RPM range. |
Re:.60/.48 too small?
for most of the RPM range--------yuo just answered your own question...turbo is too smalll who the hell doesnt want op end pull?? youll lose everytime with no top end. mean thats were a honda makes all its power

Re:.60/.48 too small?
how are you losing top end when you've made the hp downlow and still making power up top. Its not like you've plateau'ed the amount of hp you are making on the dyno. Its still a linear gain in power throughout the rpm.
I know using a t3/t4 will give you a bigger kick in the ass but this "kick" is higher in the rpm range. Some people prefer to get a lil kick in the lower range and feel it throughout, while others just like a big kick in the ass. Regardless of whether someone goes with a T3 .48/.60 or a T3/T4 or a SC61, for that fact, the amount of power is still limited by the block itself. T3 .48/.60 will spool well and make plenty of ponies on a stock B16 block. 8-12psi on a T3 is still in the "efficient" range of that turbo. |

Where do B16's make their peak power? 7600-7800 rpms. Where do B16's make their peak torque? 7000-7300 rpms. Makes sense to me using a turbo that works best at higher rpms. It looks like that is exactly where the power band is on the B16. |
Re:.60/.48 too small?
I have a 48/60 on my D15 and its perfect, B16's should go big ;)

Re:.60/.48 too small?
so basically you all are saying that even though i can get a ss log manifold, that turbo, downpipe, dumptube, all bolts and gaskets needed for 700 shipped it wouldnt be a good idea for my b16? the reason i like it is because i know everything fits. i could get everything mentioned minus the turbo for 550 shipped, do you think i should do that and just find a bigger turbo? what size would you recommend? anyone have one for sale?
|
Re:.60/.48 too small?
also the compressor side is on the passenger side of the car incase you had a turbo for sale i'm not sure what the technical term for that is
