500hp 500torque on sbc
i'm pretty new to forced induction & am interested on building a small block chevy with 500hp & 500#ft on pump gas. is that possible, even easy?

It's a lot of fabrication, as there's surprisingly little in the way of quality bolt on parts for turbocharging a small block out there. (There are some cheap headers on eBay that can be a bit leak prone and often don't fit the applications they're advertised for.) But it is pretty straightforward; a good 350 won't need much boost to hit those numbers.

I'm thinking about the OBX up and out headers, an Edelbrock 7137 Pro-Flo XT intake and Edelbrock fuel rail for starters. The rest I'm probably going to fab and use a precision turbo I have laying around. I'm also looking in the modest 500-600 HP area and again, Matt is right again. Should be no problem, maybe 15-18 lbs of boost. You must intercool it for pump gas. I'm probably going to make mine e85 friendly so I can romp on at the track, so I'll be looking at 60# or bigger injectors. |
