i just picked up a new turbo, and the flange is a little bigger than the standard Ford flange. is this whats considered the Mercedes 5 bolt flange?

Re: 5 bolt DP flange
The mercedes turbines are not 5 bolts. they have a square 4 bolts outlet with an odd shaped turbine integrating a piston type wastegate.
the t3 stage 1 0.48 a/r turbines with a slightly larger 5 holes flange come from the late saab 900 i think. The last year or so they were using T3's. That was to correct the dump hole cracking problem. They seem to have succeeded. I have never seen such turbine crack. your link is dead. actually, the whole BMC site seems to be down.... |

Re: 5 bolt DP flange
Yeah the link works now. Sorry.
Yes, it appears that they are calling this 5 bolts flange the mercedes flange!!!! :1 i don'T understand.... AFAIK, no mercedes vehicle is using that 5 bolts pattern turbine. I though it was only on ford 2.3L, Saabs, renault, peugeot and volvos... |
