300WHP on a stock LS

How hard is it to not only reach, but maintain? I've been shooting for 300 hp on my stock LS using a Holset HY35 turbo.

First off I'd like to say nice choice of screen name...face off is one of my favorite movies ;D Now down to brass tacks...you need to give us a little more info to go on. From everything i've seen, 300hp is around the breaking limit on a stock ls in good condition. If it's pretty beaten, maybe even less. It is achievable to reach what you want on a LS motor, depending on your complete setup. But you gotta give more than just "stock ls with a holset". I suggest a little more research perhaps and then come back ::)

It's easy as long as you're ready for an engine rebuild :P

just sounds a little out of reach in my opinion.

nice name, sounds like someone watched a little too much face-off....

It can handle 300 whp but I wouldn't reccomend running it at that all the time. Get an electronic boost controller and run a low/high boost setting.

Re: 300WHP on a stock LS

the engine is a b18a with b18b cams and intake manifold, it has just over 100,000 miles, doesn't smoke and doesn't burn any oil. my turbo parts list consist of the HY35 turbo, greddy ebc, tial 38mm gate, log mani, jonnyracecar 8", and a turbo xs bov. i'll be converting to obd1 and using chrome for tunning those 450cc dsm's.
i also have been wanting to install the kit and immediately tune it for 300... this motor i'd like to last for at least a year.

it's like getting in a longterm relationship and thinking that your girl will give you crazy sex every day........ :1

i am noob status! this is my first HMT kit. but i've been doing a lot of research(BTW thanks all you fuckers around this house) and i set my goals high. if i were to run it daily i would use a lower boost setting, but i don't think i'll daily this one.

Re: 300WHP on a stock LS

you can def reach 300hp on ur ls, but def wont last as long as u want it too. i gota 94 ls stock, with a t3 turbo running 12psi daily, and its real quick but nowhere to 300hp, mayb like 230 or something, but even i dont think my motor will last night. good luch though

Re: 300WHP on a stock LS

When you guys say stock, do you mean 300whp with a completely stock block, no lowering compression?

that would mean stock, in order to lower compression you would need lower compression pistons. 300hp on completly stock motor is possible, ask xenocron :y

i ahve seen more than a couple push over 300 even 332 and still have not heard of it blowing,,theres 3 cars here that all are pushing 290-330hp on stock ls motors and only one lhas let go that i know of

Re: 300WHP on a stock LS

if you get a real good tune on that bitch, and don't constantly beat the piss out of it, it might last ya awhile. i'd suggest running a lower boost setting daily, then just turning it up on the weekends or whenever your going to race

Re: 300WHP on a stock LS

getting 300whp on a stock block isnt the problem, its difficult but doable. its keeping your engine running after your ringlands break. i would seriously look into forged pistons if you REALLY want to run this type of power level for ANY amount of time.

Re: 300WHP on a stock LS

dammm i cant even get a stock motor to last a year na. it seems my turbo motors last longer than the na ones. the thing u will probubly change first is ur pistons and when u have to do that through some forged pistons in with some eagle rods and than it should last a year.

Re: 300WHP on a stock LS

i have 2 friends that has a b16 with 330whp and a ls 301whp both stock and its last them over a year, they tuned the same time and i personally think its all in the tuning, even tho they are running that much i wouldnt do it like hotrex said thats pushing it but hey its your motor and your money. YOU GOTTA PAY TO PLAY.
