3" downpipe clearance (minime with hf adapter 14b turbo) **PICS***

i am nearing completion of my stockpile of parts i need to finish my minime b7/z6 boosted at 8 psi with a 14b, using a hf manifold and a weir racing adapter plate. i bought a prefabbed 3" downpipe...i was wondering if anyone with a similar setup had any clearance issues with the radiator fan/slave cylinder. thanks.

I told ya it would be tight if not fit!

Can you get a pic?

whould have been better to fab it up yourself, so many things come into play when it comes to a downpipe, like the manifold, the turbo, which side it exits, with or without ac and ps

im still waiting on my exhaust housing, and my adapter plate. as soon as those get here, ill do a test fit, take pics, and post them up.

i have a 93 civic ex with a d15b, hf manifold, and a tdo4 turbo. i kept my ac and power steering. i had to make a downpipe cause i had no rom at all. it is very tight. if you dont have ac then you might be ok

See, that's why I had my DP fabbed up at the exhaust shop instead of buying one. I'm not harping on you just stating. LOL. Anyway, I have seen people cut the fan SHROUD to expose the fan a little but it allows some more room for that huge pipe. I didn't cut mine and run 2 1/4 right off then to 2.5 then 3 cat-back. I might cut it in a later build though. Understand?

Re: 3" downpipe clearance (minime with hf adapter 14b turbo)

yeah. the only reason i bought the 3" is cause it was prefabbed and cheap and it had the cutout, and the d15(minime)z6 with a 14b is only temorary until i get the d16 built and i plan on using a big wheel 16g...so ill benefit from a 3" i think. im probably gonna run 2.5" exhaust for now, and upgrade once the engine is actually done, cause i dont know how long it will be.

got the 14b exhaust housing today, so i can probably get a rough idea without the adapter plate.

I feel like this was overlooked.... its prefabbed... who's making prefabs that are designed for adapter plates and HF manifolds? You might alignment issues, let alone clearance issues.

Well the 3" is overkill for the 14b but if you plan on upgrading to a 16g down the road then it makes sense. You might have a hard time fitting the 3" DP on there. Here's a picture of my HF/Weir plate setup using a 2.5" DP

http://img311.imageshack.us/img311/8851/dp4ew.jpg

As you can see there's not much room between the DP and the slave cylinder, maybe half an inch. To fix this, swap to an auto tranny ;) j/k. What you can do though if it won't fit is bang on the DP with a hammer where the bleeder for the slave cylinder would hit it and make a dent in the DP. Do this just enough so it fits.
