2g dsm turbo siezed?

so i am kinda confused i finally get my HMT kit done and running! go out driving a little bit and its all good... only running 4lbs it was doing just fine...

i was driving a little later and i hear kinda a weird sound coming outa the turbo like a coin in a coke can... being spun around really fast just sounded odd was driving it home... and it was boosting fine one minute now nothing... took a charge pipe off to see if i was getting any spool and i got nothing... pretty sure the turbos gone...

now what could have caused that?! thats my questions? ... could it be my oil return is too low and oil backed up? its leaking some oil now from the return. not sure what the hell happend! my oil pressure was only sitting at like 14psi at idle and maybe a little above 25 when i was driving... but before the turbo it was at 25 at idle and hit 65 - 75 while diriving...

im all confused.. and im pretty sure the turbos gone! ... so any ideas? what could have caused it... how to fix it so it doesnt do it on my replacement turbo? im in desperate need of some ideas and help! thanks guys

Re: 2g dsm turbo siezed?

ok... some more specs to help out maybe i can get some answers....

i have a zc vtec motor sohc (d16z6),

turbo setup is an hf manifold ----> adapter plate ---> 2g eclipse t25 turbo ---->custom down pipe

oil feed is a -4 stainless steel, oil return is a -10, off the back of the block i have a t fitting that takes the stock sender the aftermarket autometer sender and the oil feed line stock wastegate has been bent in to hold 4 lbs rather than stock 8lbs

turbo was doing just fine... and i left the car running for about 7 minutes or so with the fan off... and it heated up pretty bad... i turned the fan on and let it cool down... drove back home from the gas station... and when i rev up a little on the down rev it would make a tin sounding rattle... let the car sit and cool off for a bit took it out for another drive to see if it was aight... got about 3 miles into the drive it was boosting just fine... shift outa boost and just cruising and the next time i try to give it some gas i got zero boost... doesnt even sound like the turbo is spooling at all anymore... if i hold the rpms at about 4k the turbo shakes alot and it sputters out a little bit of air but nothing to show any boost. got home to see that there is a little bit of oil seeping out the charge side of the pipes and to find a little oil leaking from around where the oil return line is

im totally lost... at to what the hell is going on

i need some help anyone please give me a hand im pretty sure that its just totally gone to ----! but im looking for reasons why so i can stop it from happening again

Take off the turbo's inlet pipe (if you have one) and check for shaft play, and make sure it spins freely. If there's oil in your charge pipes, you've definately got a seal issue, but it's probably something else keeping it from boosting properly. Sounds like a junk snail to me. The noises you've heard where probably the wheels scraping the housings.

Re: 2g dsm turbo siezed?

thats what im thinking it is leaking mad oil right now and im kinda just over it im reloacting the return line and getting another fan in front of it... someone mentioned the car must have gotten so hot that the ---- just cracked internally and now i need a new one... so i bought a rebuilt one for abou 100 shipped hopefully after my adjustments itll be done...

any other ideas
