the 1g can hold more boost especially if u can find a pre-crushed one. lots of dsm tuners swap the 2g for a 1g. they arent that loud like say the XS RFL but u can hear it. the 1g is good enough if your on a budget like me.

thanks guys, i'm buying a 2G bov for $40 plus the pipe so i guess thats not too much for an 'ok' BOV. Anyone else have any comparisions between the 2G and the 1G BOV? i'm not running anything over 10psi anyways so leaking shouldn't be a big problem.

For 40 bucks I'd rather get the better 1G bov instead. Also it doesn't need to be crushed for the boost levels I'm assuming you are going to be running. I'd never pay 40 for a cheap plastic bov.

agreed, 40 is to much for the 2g dsm bov, 40 for a 1g is still kinda high but worth it.

2g's are plastic and will leak at higher boost levels.

I agree, because of the design of the 2G (plastic) it leaks at higher boost levels, the 1G is probably one of the best style and make of a BOV, when crushed it can hold 20PSI without breaking a sweat. And its sounds decent too.

ya i think i'll try to look for a 1G if i can't find one for a good price then i guess i'll use the 2G it shouldn't leak at 10psi right.

the valve being plastic has NOTHING to do with why it leaks.

the fact that the valve spool (shaft) is also used as the pressure tube to the lower port of the diaphragm is why it leaks. take some JB weld and plug the hole in the silver shaft in the bottom part of the valve and it will hold several more PSI since the lower port of the diaphragm is not seeing boost. it just won't react as quickly.

your average 2g bov shouldn't run you more than $10 (you said you're getting the pipe though too, so $40 is a bit better iwth that factored in). it's moderately loud. i could hear it pretty well on my talon even with it recirculated. sounds like someone exhaling really quickly.
