Default 280zx turbo

We are in the process of pulling a tubo off an 82 or 83 datsun 280zx at a local junkyard. The car only has 104k miles and they said $25 for the turbo. Anyone know what turbo it is? Is it the same t3 60/63 thats on the 300zx?

the turbo on a 300ZX unless your talking about the TT version is not that big, its a large T25 or a small T3, i owned one for quite a while, and i dont think the 280ZX is much larger, if not smaller

if nothing else pull it and sell it for a profit, $25 is a good deal

EEEERRR Wrong. The Early 80's Single turbo 300zx/Datsun 280zx turbos are Garret t3 .60/.63. The same as a T-Bird Turbo, just look a little different and use a funny 7bolt Downpipe. I have had 2 of these turbos.

The nissan 280z turbo I have is a 60 trim in a .42 A/R housing, mated to a .63 A/R turbine housing.

nice bumblezc,

yea its a 60/63, im running the same turbo on my car right now. But i swapped the exhaust housing with one from a .63 volvo 860. Works awesome, efficent (well somewhat) to 19 psi.

yeah I'm the one thats got that 280z turbo motochris was talking about. it is a 60/63, the downpipe flange is weird though. Its like 4 studs coming out in a perfect rectange shape. would be easy to make a downpipe for if I could find a flange for it. Cant find one on the internet whatsoever, so if any one knows a place that might have one let me know. I would just cut the flange off the factory o2 housing but of course thats cast
