2 inch exhaust restricting boost???

my car boosts 5 to 6 psi max and it is gated for 8 psi. i have a 2.5 inch mandrel dp but im running a cat and 2 inch exhaust from there back...would the restrictive exhaust constitute the 2-3 psi drop i am seeing or should i check for leaks.

check for leaks, and if you think that exhaust is your 2-3 psi probelm, drop the exhaust before the cat, and go drive it real quick to see if anything changes. Also, your internal wastegate flapper may not be sealing good, and air could be sneaking by, or you may have cracks in that area.

If 6psi is bugging you, get a boost controller ;)

2" exhaust is restrictive.. that's what I'm using but I have an open race cat... the cat makes a big diff.

the exhaust is just going to make you spool quicker, but i don't think it would be making you lose 2psi. if you have a lot of bends and your fmic may be your problem. my turbo is gated at 8psi as well and i was only seeing 6 at first too, but i have a 2inch ubend right at compressor outlet going to a 90degree bend to another ubend to my starion fmic than to ubend coming out of fmic to 2.5inch aem cai as the upper charge pipe. a lot of bends reducing the efficiency. i have no leaks because it holds 8psi all the way to redline. if your set up has a lot of bends like mine that might be your reason, but it isn't a problem. just get a boost controller. i was satisfied with 6psi for a week and a half and then made a mbc/bleeder and cranked it to 8psi. when i get back to the dyno it's going to 10psi.
