2 Fuel Pumps?

Hey guys

I read some of the stickies but they were a bit light on fuel system info I wanted so I'm just posting a thread up. I want to do a twin turbo V6 I have the stand alone and all the trimmings or at least the ability to make them and a couple reasonably matched turbos. Thing is a fuel pump made for a 1.6L n/a is not going to cut it with a 3L twin turbo V6....not even close. I'm not a complete noob normally I'd throw a bosch or walbro pump of a good size at it and call it a day.

But doing it for others and doing it for myself are 2 different things I have a tight budget and no spare high flow pumps hanging around. So I was thinking since I have an assload of normal in tank pumps for 2L cars laying around if I should just make a custom carrier and drop 2 into the tank with a Y fitting on them for some extra flow. Forgetting the fab part of it I'm good at that. I dunno if I should run separate lines to the rail with separate fuel filters or just run it through the stock system. Any input? I'm going to get it done one way or another just I don't have much spare cash buying up the wastegates and turbos etc etc absorbed a bit of the dosh:p

Fuel systems are not my forte I haven't experimented with dual pumps yet hence my inquisitiveness I might land up just doing it anyway to try it unless there is an awesometastic reason not to.

two fuel pumps should work out fine. alot of ppl run duel fuel pumps. hell even duel fuel rails

what kind of car is it going in just wondering cuz ------------- sells some good pumps for fairly cheap

MR2 mkI and the engine is a 3vzfe from a lexus ES300 thanks for the link but I might still try to ghetto my way through this one:p I've built carriers and put pumps in before just not 2 together yet so something new to do.

Cool thanks I knew people did but still just checking I haven't done an engine that has needed this much fuel before normally the junkyard could turn something up but I would still need to buy it and I just have pumps laying around from donor cars so would rather use them. I'm not looking for huge power about 300-350 but the turbo A/F ratios combined with the fact it is a 3L not a 1.6 means the cars stock system is just not up to it.

lots of people run dual pumps. just make sure you run one huge wire to both pumps or wire them seperatly. fuel pumps require lots of power and running them both on stock wiring would defeat the purpose or even melt the wire

Yeah definitely I'm going to rewire for the stand alone anyway so I will run some fat wire to them and a nice big new relay made for truck headlights so it will be well supplied

yeah you wont need dual filters either just "Y" it before the filter. but i dont know if your filter is good for that much flow so on second though yeah run two filters just to be safe

Haha sweet these forums are pretty quick to actually be helpful:D That is what I am looking at doing only with celica fuel pumps or toyota camry pumps or something I have heaps of them laying around. I think I'll use a common filter the filter is not that bad that it can't flow for this although I have heaps of filters I may just Y them after they each go through a filter can't hurt.

This project is not going to happen tomorrow thanks to all the other ones I have going but it is still going to happen and this is all good stuff so thanks guys!

i would use v-6 camry pumps or get the msd pump with fuel pump voltage booster. it can be run in line before the fuel rain and increasing voltage will bump volume.
