2.5 BAR MAP Sensor Adapter, Great Idea!?
While trying to list some stuff on ebay I started browsing around and found this. Actually looks nice and like a good idea. Just wondering if anyone else is in the process of making something like this?
Description CNC Machined from Aluminum. This adapter will allow you to bolt the 2.5 MAP Sensor on your stock location in the throttle body. Just simply remove the stock map sensor, bolt this adapter and the MAP sensor will bolt to this. The benefits of this adapter are: -provides the MAP sensor a very secured mounting location on the engine bay. -avoids the MAP sensor to be pulled by hanging wires -reduces vibrations to the map sensor wich can cause failure of the device -provides the MAP sensor with a faster response and reading to the manifold's vacumm/pressure readings, as Honda designed it -eliminates the need for T's and vacumm hoses on the engine bay -gives a nice bling look to the engine bay LOL, "gives a nice bling look to the engine bay". http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/5103/sensor015zc.jpg http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Motor...QQcmdZViewItem |

Mario (TurboEG) says his works great + 2.5 motorola map sensor
looks like a good solution, wish there was a non-bling cheap/easy HMT way to make adapters and sell them Also remember those don't come with the sensor either. |

I already thought of making those but really the profit and how many your gonna sell is small at best

I was just referring to the fact that I think they're a tad bit pricey...
A cheaper solution would rock. :) |

A cheaper solution would rock. :) There a fair price. You cant run a batch of a 1000 so you run batches of maybe 50. Takes 3 months to sell them at maybe a 15-20 dollar profit. Hence why its not the best idea. You will sadly be better off making a missing link and selling them on ebay. |
Re: 2.5 BAR MAP Sensor Adapter, Great Idea!?
The guy posted his original idea for this on HT IIRC, but maybe HMT as well. Story goes he wanted the adapter made, but it would be just a tad more to make a bunch, vs the high cost for just one. In other words, its like a personal group-buy. You could easily have 50 of these made for very little, assuming you didn't have it perfectly CNC'd, your logo cut into it - just a few simple cuts and deburring the sharp edges.
If you really want to do something cheap - either look at the motorola/freescale 2.5/4bar map mod thread, or try the non-ported versions. Before they started selling the ported 2.5bar's, I got the free-air style, and made little aluminum cacoons for them. I was thinking of even going with glass-filled epoxy for some mini-production scale numbers, but then they started selling the ported ones again, as well as the "free"scale sample thread popped up... I do have to say its the only cheap way to get a 7bar sensor (freescale MPX5500D) to work... :o |
