2.25 exhaust too small?
well i just lost 3psi from getting the down pipe (2.5") welded to the rest of the exhaust2.25" i use to make 7-8psi with just the downpipe alone, but now i can't go pass 5psi. Did the smaller exhaust decrease the psi? i just bought a boost controller as well and tried to increase the boost but it was solid at 5psi and will not go pass 5, ( ihi rh5)

Re: 2.25 exhaust too small?
you got a leak somwhere if the boost controller isnt working...
ps. no offence but why do you still post here when people are just gonna flame you? :-\ |
Re: 2.25 exhaust too small?
flame me for a stupid question? well, i just ask a question that im confuse about . but there is no leak it was running great with the down pipe alone, but it was too loud thats why i decided to get it attach to the rest of the exhaust.
but when its detach i get the 7-8psi. im thinking that the problem is that the exhaust is too small. |
Re: 2.25 exhaust too small?
no not about the question i just remember in the past people just didnt like you? anyway did you try disconnecting the DP after you connected the exhaust to see if the psi goes back up?

Re: 2.25 exhaust too small?
u running a cat?
|
Re: 2.25 exhaust too small?
yes, i have tried disconnecting the dp and the psi did went back up to 7-8psi.
yes iam running a stock cat. but when i connect the downpipe to the full exhaust, i lose 3psi. and on the flaming part and who ever don't like me, i really don't care, since lots of my friend knows my pw for this account , they like joking or do stupid things with my account, so some of the past post it wasn't me. but o well.. |
Re: 2.25 exhaust too small?
well i think whiterice could be right, your cat is restricting too much so buy/make a stright pipe

Re: 2.25 exhaust too small?
I ran a stock cat and 2.5 DP with 2.25 exhaust for a while. I still hit 8psi no problem.

Re: 2.25 exhaust too small?
I run open DP at the track everytime I went and still held at 8 psi. No major spikes or creep. Just good old fashion fast spooling!

Re: 2.25 exhaust too small?
I'm getting a DP fabbed and I was going to go with 2.25" back to the stock 2.25" exhaust. Is this cool? If I ever upgrade my exhaust to 2.5"+ the smaller DP should still be fine right? I realize it will be a little more restricted, but nothing major right? Thanks!

Re: 2.25 exhaust too small?
mines being built tomorrow and it will be 2.5 all the way through. maybe even bigger if he can get it all to fit. rule of thumb for turbos, dont go below 2.5 and bigger is better

Re: 2.25 exhaust too small?
If you have a choice, Don't use 2.25 for a DP. 2.5 min for DP's. 3" Optimal!!!
As for exhaust, If you gonna get it made up might as well do it right the first time 3" if you know you gonna bost. 2.5 is alright but you might find yourself down the road wanting 3" and wishing you did. The only reason why mine is 2.25 is I got the exhaust on it 2 years before I even thought of boosting it. |
Re: 2.25 exhaust too small?
the cat is your problem like everyone else has said. my ---- did the same thing. went from 10 psi open dp. then when they hooked it up i lost 6 psi and it dropped to 4 psi and it felt like crap. so i went and got a straight pipe done and it was all good afterwards. if your cheap just get the straight pipe and you'll be fine ;)
