Schweeeet

One thing though, having the TB so far from the engine will give you lag, I would position it before the manifold to have much better response

that doesn't work with superchargers. It has to be before the supercharger, and while the extra piping may give me a delay, the time is measured in thousandths of a second.

So I'm not too worried about it.

Very clean build man - how much did the materials for the intake manifold cost you and where'd you get those arc'd runners? I want to do a sheet metal intake for my BMW.

Thanks man, but I think you've got the lock down on clean builds.

The metal for the manifold was $52.00 and the runners are actually part of a stock neon Manifold, I just cut the thing in half with a hacksaw and welded the box under it :P

Works well enough for what I need.

you can have the TB after the supercharger, but on your setup it is easier to do what you did

Thanks - I have been pricing materials at Ross Race Machining - they have runners, plenum rounds and all, even velocity stacks to weld in the plenum to the runner, but it adds up QUICK. I can get away with a short runner manifold and straight runners, but if I want a larger volume plenum I need get curved runners - my OE manifold (and all those for this motor) are high density plastic. I am, however, considering cutting the stock manifold at the runners so I have a stock fitment and fuel rail positioning and using 6 couplers to mate a higher volume aluminum plenum with a 75 or 80mm TB at the end. Ahhh decisions.

Also - are you welding with a TIG and argon or are you using a MIG with aluminum wire and argon?

And finally - (sorry for questions) are you running MS like I read in your turbo build? How do you like it? Mine is doing great - I am debating on going to MS2/Extra but I think I may stay MSnS-E for a long time, I have no reason to change really.

i thought you said you already did this setup years ago, so why you need help now

It's true that I could have, but if I did, I would have driveability problems- along with having to use a blow-off valve and not be able to use the built in bypass valve. It's much smarter to put the throttle body before the supercharger.

The welding on the manifold was not mine, My welder does not have AC so I can't do aluminum, it was welded by my wife's cousin who used a spool gun.
Everything else was TIG welded by me with Argon.

I don't actually have the MS installed yet, hopefully all this stuff is going to go on in about a week and a half. I'll let you know then how I like it.
I'm not going for spark at first either, I want to get the fuel dialed in, then I'll jump into spark later.

thanks
Sky

I see so you are running a DC TIG - thats what I have r - argon with steel or aluminum? I run mix gas for steel.

Anyway, I would recommend running spark and fuel at the same time. What you'll find is that when you remove the injectors from you stock ECU it will freak out and pull timing. Your vacuum at idle will be real low (pulled timing) and it will be relatively shitty to drive. I had a "just fuel" setup on my BMW but then only weeks later I switched to full fuel and spark with a GM DIS gutted, well, you can read my thread. But, yeah, since you have a Neon they have a neon module control built into the MSnS-E firmware... I don't think you'd need to do much at all to get spark control. I really don't recommend just fuel - with boost and heat you definitely want to be able to alter your timing.

I run mixed gas as well for mild steel.

Thanks for the heads up on the megasquirt, I was pretty much thinking along the same lines, and there's several neons I know running spark. so thanks for the motivation to get it all going at once.
