1994 Infiniti Q45 rear mount turbo project
Browsed the site a few times during my research and finally just joined to share my project. The vehicle, as stated above, is a 1994 Infiniti Q45 with a 4.5 liter V8. I'm using a T70 Master Power turbo, Tial wastegate, and tial BOV. I'm using a Shurflo 8000 series pump to scavenge the oil from the turbo. I have done all the fabrication and installation myself and think it's turning out nice. I plan to get it on the road by the end of this weekend and start tuning and testing the system.
Here are some photos of the install process. As they say a pictures worth a thousand words.... This is the muffler that was replaced by the turbo. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...ti-turbo/1.jpg Here's my T4 Flange pipe https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...ti-turbo/2.jpg The is the Y pipe I made to join the OEM dual exhaust https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...ti-turbo/3.jpg Here's an early test fit of the turbo https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...ti-turbo/4.jpg Y pipe installation https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...ti-turbo/5.jpg Here's the exhaust extension w/T4 Flange and flex joints https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...ti-turbo/6.jpg Extension pipe installation https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...ti-turbo/7.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...ti-turbo/8.jpg Here's the compressor tubing https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...ti-turbo/9.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/10.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/11.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/12.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/13.jpg Final mounting and oil lines https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/14.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/15.jpg Oil feed from filter sandwich plate https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/16.jpg Oil pressure sending unit and feed flow needle valve https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/17.jpg Oil return line w/modified fuel filter as oil return sightglass https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/18.jpg Final mounting https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/19.jpg Final mounting with chrome tips https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/20.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/21.jpg Exhaust heat wrapped and painted compressor tubing. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/images...i-turbo/22.jpg The oil pump is in the trunk and it's not mounted as of the time of this post. Finished mounting the gauges and running electrical for the pump and stage 2 boost controller last night. Last items I need to complete before I can start road testing is the oil pump and wastegate pressure line. I am connecting up the homemade stage 2 boost controller to that now as well but it won't be used until I get it working properly on the low boost. The boost controller is just a couple needle valves, a T, and a 12v air solenoid. What do you all think? Praise as well as criticism welcome, Try to keep the criticism constructive tho :D |

Only thing you are missing is porn... Setup looks tits man. Have you considered removing/swapping/gutting the stock cat so it doesn't ---- its innards into the turbo?

Haha, turbo > muffler! This is a great looking project, can you get some vids of it in action some time?

Re: 1994 Infiniti Q45 rear mount turbo project
They are all auto.
But the trans is great. My cuz used to have one, about 3-5 5k rpm neutral drops a day, for 3 years. Never had an issue. And the damn cars haul ass once they get halfway through 1st gear. Which btw goes 55mph haha. That cars gonna fly dude. GET VIDS. |
