Re:Is the 16g too much for a stock d16z6?

most commonly from an evo...or anybody with a mildly upgraded eclipse/talon/laser/galant

I was thinking evo but isn't that the 20g? Damn DSMs are confusing me :-[

Re:Is the 16g too much for a stock d16z6?

16g is going to be kinda laggy, but we call that "traction control" I'd be sure to get a nice flowin manifold, clean mandrel DP and possible a agressive camshaft, these all help spool times.

i think the only place you can find a 20g other than a catalog is in some mitsu trucks (the fuso?)

Re:Is the 16g too much for a stock d16z6?

lets say now, at what rpm range would this turbo start boosting and when will I get full boost?

start boosting at 3000 rpm? full boost at 5000rpm? Thisn is my example.

thanks for all the answers so far.

Re:Is the 16g too much for a stock d16z6?

really there are too many variables to say, but i would guess that it would be way sooner than what you said

Re:Is the 16g too much for a stock d16z6?

sounds good, im sure with this turbo im going to be making more power than with a 14b. Sounds good dude, I think Ill go for one.

a 16g is what comes with the Greddy kits for single cams. If thats going to be laggy I can't imagine what mine's going to be, I'm putting a T3/T4 .60 compressor .63 turbine, but it is ball bearing

um no 16g doesnt come with greddy single cam kits

16g will support 300+ in a dsm a 15g wont make much more than 250 efficiently in a civic. ;)

A Greddy Kit comes with a TD04-15G, That turbo alone isnt even comparable to a TD05h-14b. The Greddy turbo on the single cams spools incredible fast, you can reach full boost by 25-3000rpms.

a 16g is going to be very laggy on a single cam, very compareable to a t3/t4 .60/63

Dont make the black princess own your ass :-*

Exactly, if we all knew everything we wouldn't be on this site. I'm satisfied just knowing I'm smarter than Quadrine :P

Re:Is the 16g too much for a stock d16z6?

everybody discussing about the turbo, you could just ask me, lol.

i just wanted to know about experiences, i thought it was going to be laggy, the 16g is no more than an upgrade of the 14b, same housing and stuff, ported, bigger wheels. But yeah, its a 14b with some modifications.

anyone tried one before?

I could put the 20g on my d15b2.

I might get 1psi at redline.

that'd be mad funny

Cyclone and typhoon had them but there aren't a lot of them around. You can get them at Hahnracecraft.com with a T-3 flange.

I have a Friend with a Super 16g on his neon with 8:1 pistons and it spools at about 2500rpm.

turboboy 08-19-2004 11:45 AM

Re:Is the 16g too much for a stock d16z6?

i dunno about the sy/ty's having them, but the turbo's that hahn sell are very different than the mitsu heavy industries ones. their 16g is huge in comparison to a a dsm one

tekno9998 08-19-2004 11:52 AM

Re:Is the 16g too much for a stock d16z6?

Yeah there fairly large and support big horsepower on the dsms. I think a 16g would match up rather nicely to a f or h series engine. Eventually one of the accord guys will plop one on there setup.

turboboy 08-19-2004 12:06 PM

Re:Is the 16g too much for a stock d16z6?

yea but the hahn turbos cost an assload...its like 600 for the 16g

Tru but alot of the dsmers are going to the garret turbos now and 16g and 20gs are showing up more and more
