15psi won't make a rod into a horseshoe. Mine have seen 20psi before, up from 12 daily and there are brand new looking.

well its a very long story, i bought the talon last year from a buddy of mine for $500 when he moved on to a sti, 5 speed, frontwheel drive and leather seats with power everyting and 118k miles. befor the talon i drove a jeep grand cherokee and i found boost addicting. I went to bandemere speedway here in CO for High school drags and got my ass haded to me by a supercharged mustang 5.0 so i made a gheto ass homedepot mbc and raised the boost little by little to 15psi, there wasnt much spike, the only supporting mods were a fuel pump rewire, and homemade intake it lasted a long ass time and one day last summer i waz getting off work when i herd it tick in the valvetrain, i decided to drive it home cause it was like 2am and it made it to my neighborhood befor i heard a loud bang, dsm's are imfamous for shitty ass valvtranes, i think it just needed an adjustment but it was too late. i didnt have much time, i work full time and go to school so i bought the civic the next week cause i got tired of asking my homeboys for rides and i just pullled the talon in the garage, i didnt really ---- with it till now, school ended monday and i took the head off to find this... im going to part it and make more than i spent on it so its all good

Haha ok now i get it. I was looking at the first pics and then i saw the civic and i was like... Cast iron closed deck engine in a civic? WTF! ;)

Daaaaannnnggg!! Thats messed up homie. I got a 2000 Ex(Same color BTW) and basically the same thing happened to me so I feel your pain. I went B16a2 and turbo and i think it was the best to happen to me except for the whole "throw a rod and some other metal parts out of you engine thing." So which way are you going to go now. A Build up or a Swap out.

did you take that to jacks shop? I think I remember seing that down there. well I guess there are other red dsm's in colorado that blow up. lol good luck on the next project. do you need a manifold? I build them in my spare time. 304L stainless tig welded? i've built 2 d-series manifolds and one b-series. you may know who they are. fist one was a mild steel short tubular style on a y7 for a guy named cory(titanium grey ek hatch).frankenstein on crn. second was a SS log for kelly(red eg hatch) and the most recent was a ss log for a 4dr ls teg with a b18c1 swap. dark green his name is joey.

im doing a ghetto turbo for now with the dsm parts hf/14b/450cc and i'll hopefully sell the tranny ecu interieor etc and score some internal $$$, i dont see the point of a swap if i just go with tunertoy rods, wisco pistons and a t3 60trim with a ramhorn my homeboys welding for me, im not a track hore i just want a fast street car aming for 250-300whp with an ebc, just want to rape some wrx's and evos

don't forget arp head studs and some sticky rubber if you want beat evo's and sti's. they launch hard. and i've yet to meet that many that will race from a roll. racing from a roll=gay

id bet that the ticking was yor rod bearings...then you tossed a rod. I think if you just dropped a valve it wouldnt have been as bad. but i have no idea

I was a avid D-series lover. But got a real sweet deal with a Engine and Turbo kit so I jumped on with two feet. I feel you though built it and rip some new a-holes

something else had to have gone wrong... 15 psi shouldnt have done that to a 4g63

did you try datalogging it after bumping the boost to check for detonation?

Im in loveland, I have a boosted motor swapped mazda MX3 that turned 13.05 @ 109.5 at bandi this year, now with a new turbo kit is dynoed 395 whp on 15 psi on a junkyard motor...
