14B Wastegate.

Anyone know where i can find just the wastegate to a 14B, the turbo i bought came with some fucked up, bent up POS wastegate...

also does anyone know where i can find out the math to making the stock wastegate operate at a lower boost? i think the stock 14B hits like 7-8PSI i want somewhere around 5
i know i can swap out the spring, but which spring do i want? lol

thanks ahead of time (ps - im a noob to boost)

if im not mistaking i dont think you can lower the stock psi on a factory waste gate. i think there are adjustable ones out there i believe forge makes one.

that is a pretty penny.. why not just go with an external wastegate? it would probably be cheaper

It's tough to get a 14B down to 5psi because they were designed to operate between 8 and 10 pounds. Some guys brag about shimming the gate open and getting it to stay down around 5psi "most of the time". You can usually find the actuators on ebay. You could make your own bracket and get a generic internal wastegate actuator from Turbonetics, but they are still at least $100 dollars. Best bet, find another used one in better shape or find a Forge one off ebay, they do work well, they are rebuildable and the springs can be swapped.

If you really want to run 5 PSI, get an external and save yourself the headaches :)

if your cheap you can alwasy do the whole carb spring trick it takes a while to get it where you want but it only costs a few dollars

If you are cheap and ghetto you can cut the wastegate arm, tap both ends of it, put a sleeve on it and not only is it adjustable, you can leave it hang open halfway so it's laggy and will peak at 5 pounds. Not the best fix, but ----, it's cheap and it works.;D

---- cheap and ghetto is whats this site is all about

haha thats what im talkin about...
im even in the consideration of saying ---- the stock wastegate, leaving it open, building a custom exhaust (which i have to do anyways) and finding a manifold with an external wastegate...

id consider selling this turbo for CHEAP and re-buying a more "Suited" turbo for my car.

but damn that just takes all sorts of time and annoying efforts that im too lazy to put in..

what do you guys think about forgetting the stock wastegate, leaving it completely open, and using a manifold with external? (i havnt bought a manifold yet, so this option is still up)
