Default 14b vs greddy!?

OK fairly simple question.
what are the differences between the tdo4 turbo
and the 14b turbo.

I believe the tdo4 comes with the greddy kit(I get this
because I'm talking to someone selling a used greddy kit, and he says the turbo is tdo4).

So what are the differences,
which one pulls harder, which spools faster?
they are both internally wastgated?

Would you have to use a different adaptor, or manifold, for each turbo?

Thanks again.. and as you can see, i'm not an expert when it comes to this, so please be gentle

TD04 Greddy Turbo

14b/TD05h DSM Turbo

Alike

Both center sections made by Mitsubishi
Both are designed to work on 4cyls
Both you will more than likly need to make a custom exhaust manifold for

Unalike

14b has a circular inlet flage
td04 has a rectangular inlet flange (same as jdm t25 flange)

14b has a wastegate set at 8psi
td04 has a wastegate that is adjustable from 5.5 to 10psi

14b is oil and watercooled
td04 is oil cooled only

14b is alot larger (probably spools 1-1500rpms later)
td04 is smaller, but spools faster

14b turbos are alot easier to find
td04 only comes with the Greddy SOHC D-series turbokit.

Both Turbos have different exhaust outlet configurations.

thats all I can think off the top of my head..

My opionion, of which is better? the 14b by far..

Jeff

Thanks for the explanation,
that helps clarify things alot.
doesnt the tdo4 also come on wrx's ??

I kind of like the fact that its wastegate is adjustable...
but I guess you can adjust the 14b also? just need a boost controller?

Lots of different styles of TD04's

DSM TD04
Greddy TD04
Subaru TD04

all ------- different, each have different inlet and exhaust configs.

You can make any wastegate adjustable if you want..

A boost controller will only allow you to ADD boost from where the stock wastegate is set at. (it will never go lower)
